I just bought a bunch of these at a estate sale--I have not seen them before--I assume the roman numerals coincide with number of Cadillac's owned?  Please educate me--also have one with no roman numeral

The Roman numerals were indeed supposed to represent the number of Cadillacs owned, but GM was not too fussy about this. My father's first Caddy was a 1985. After he bought his second one in 1989, they sent him an emblem with the numerals VII on it.

When I was selling Cadillacs, at the end of the year, Cadillac gave employees a really, really good lease for one year on a new Cadillac to make sure they beat Lincoln in sales. I ordered one of the 1995 melted chocolate ice cream SDVs for Gay. (It came in, sat on the floor for one day and some customer wanted it.) So, she ended up with one of the metallic blue/green ones with a roof from stock. When I called for my badge, telling the girl that I'd owned something like 35 Caddies. I ended up with a Roman # 1.

Phil, which ownership medalions do you have?
The round ones, which appear to have come in both silver and gold tones.
There are later model medalions which are oval shaped with back and chrome finish. An acquaintance of mine worked for the company that made them and gave me about 10 of them which were donated to the Museum, and acutioned off.

As I understand they were to have numbers that reflected the number of Cadillacs you owned. At a certain number you received something other than a number. Someone else may remember what it was.

You are right, and I can't remember what the thing had on it. (So they wouldn't have to send you any more...)
