Hi,

unfortunately, the right horn of my 65 Sedan Deville got broken and I´m looking for an replacement one.
The stamp on it says "Delco Remy" with part no. 9000543 (Low sound)

Does someone of you have one in stock? Or could someone give me a tipp to get an alternative one? (like original)

Thanks in advanced

Christian

Glen

That number does not show up in my parts book.  See the attachment for the listing of horns in the 64 - 74 cars.

Hi Glen,

thanks for your answer.

Ok, thats stange. In my parts book (59-65) I could find the part number for my car (see picture attached) The part no. is aswell printed on the horn it selfe. (9000543)

Not strange.
Many parts are superceded in the later parts lists as the stock depletes, better designs.
The list closest after the actual production year should be factory "correct".   Mistakes can happen, it's the hand made era.    I like to cross check several sources - catalogues, etc.
Numbers on parts do not guarantee they are "original".
Most of these before the '70s metallic horns are out of production and not available, so likely to suffer similar fates.   Some can be repaired.

It is possible the horn was replaced at some time using the newer equivalent, hence the newer part number.

Try GM Parts wiki with the various numbers you have and see if there is a match.  As pointed out by others, parts were superseded on a routine basis as the original "parts bin" ran out.

(takes good eyesight to read through the scanned pages....)
