Any suggestions how to mount a front license plate without ruining the grill or bumper ?  Thanks , Paul Tesone CLC #6876

There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Mental Illness".  Dave Barry.   I walk that line.

Paul,

There is a factory front license mount which clamps to the front bumper.  Photos attached of the one for my 1942.  The only difference between the mounts for the '42 and the '47 is how the sides of the bracket are cut to the contour of each year's bumper.

You can probably get one from AllCads. I used to have a spare, but probably sent it to Ed when I was cleaning out my older parts. I 'll double check the next time I go to the garage.

As a temporary fittment I used 3m double tape to back of plate and trim.  Mounted top of plate at center of bumper vertically. I yanked on it and it aint goin no where. Hack, but no tickets, doesnt look bad, and NO Drillin. There is clamps u can get to mount under bumper, set back a bit. Good luck.

Sorry - late to the party.

Here are 4 views of the 47 and how it mounts and adjusts.
Hope this helps.

Have fun,
Steve B.

In new york, run a vintage 47 plate, only need rear. Clean front. Not sure your state laws
