On eBay, there's a guy in Long Beach with a long block for $750. I would grab it if I didn't live in Connecticut. My daughter lives in Lafayette, but I'm not sure when I'll be out there again. I'd get it if it were here on the east coast.

Here's a 1940 LaSalle engine & trans in Barstow, CA. If it is original it will be a 322 cid but can be bored to 346 cid.
