Our 84 Brougham D'elegance needs a new 4100 or swap. No one seems to rebuild these anymore saying the bearings aren't available. Any leads on a source for a rebuilder or a possible swap for another engine. Located in New York Thanks JeRita 84 Brougham at beach.jpg84 at bay.jpg

Have you tried Jasper engines?  https://www.jasperengines.com/
or these folks ---

Trouble is, if you find a replacement engine, when all is said and done you still have an HT4100 engine.  Improvements have been made but not much can be done with an engine that is basically a flawed design.  Why so many HT4100 Cadillacs went to an early grave.
Best of luck.

It's a cost vs benefit situation. You could seek  a 1986-89 brougham 5.0 model that's almost identical, however a more reliable cast iron v8. Improved wood grain effects.  Your interior 'could' swap into these as well With a little determination.

I tried Jasper and Powertrain neither makes the 4100 anymore JeRita

The little bit of poking around I just did it kinda looks like parts are still available unless its a deal where everyone gets them from the same place and just lists them as in stock since they historically were in stock at that one distributor.   I also thought that most of the internals were the same though 89 so that covers a lot of cars.

I have a fuzzy recollection of someone here talking about a smaller shop that still rebuilt these but I don't remember any details,  seems like it was east coast.  It was at least a year ago.   I think it was someone replying that they had got one rebuilt there and the thread was about an 87 Fleetwood? It was a younger guy trying to get his gradfathers car back on the road?  I don't remember ever hearing what the guy did,  I think as usual he got scared away by everyone telling him his grandfathers car was garbage.

All the bearings and wear parts are still available for a rebuild. Any machine shop that's been in business for more than 20 years (I think that's all of them) has probably done their fair share of them.

The place which 35-709 added the link for, after the Jasper link, does list them. Here it is in case you missed it. And no I haven't tried them but I was impressed by the detail they added regarding the differences in each similar engine offering. I also thought it was nice that you don't need to be a detective to see all of their costs; everything is listed on the same page as the engine.

Thanks That company is out of business but the calls get forwarded to another in Indiana. They have the engines for about 3K plus shipping
