I have a 1955 Eldorado (Formerly my best friend Bob Crimmins car) that needs a radio.  Does anyone know if the radio in the Eldo was different than the other 55 models? Ebay sellers are stating there is but I'm not sure.

Both are pictured below.

Randy,

Cosmetically and operational they both are the same "however" the only exception between them is the 7265825 1955 sedan, hardtop (with fader) and the 7265845 1955 convertible (without fader).

If you are looking for authenticity you will have to go with the correct one, if you are impartial on this the 7265825 will work but you need to set the fader to the front speaker or have it bypass.

Good luck..!

Eldo for 1955 = convertible. This body style has no speaker at the rear. This may be the difference.

Randy,
A fader will vary the speaker volume between front and back speakers..so if you only have a front speaker there is no need for a fader.

Either will work, I do have one available from a 1955 sedan...it worked when I removed it but it has been shelved a while. $150 plus 🚢 85004

Might need a recap job before turning on the power,
to avoid blowing the rectifier.  I am betting an
alignment job is in order too.  Bruce Roe

Agreed... and my radio too  might need similar rehabilitation 🤣

My 55 Eldorado radio had CONV stamped with red paint on it.  I can't find my photo of it.  FYI

I found a photo of the number, but it is not clear.

Screen shot of the 56 Master Parts list and it's odd it did not show the 55 or earlier radio numbers.
