Well, never listen to me.
I'm just about one truck hood in the bedroom shy of marriage counseling anyway. :o
Maybe I should just buy the S.O. a nice antique quilt to hang over it. ;)

Congratulations. Question??? Did you save the gaskets?? Looks like salt belt car. Bad  Sheetmetal, good rubber. Original is always BETTER that the crap the vendors sell.

Bob, yes I did save the gasket, it's pretty thick and pliable, but unfortunately I cut into a part of it so I am not sure if I can reuse it unless I use some glue or some type of sealer in case I ever want to use it again.

The body does have a lot of rot especially in the lower fenders and in various places. But many parts are still salvageable, like most of chrome and stainless trim and various interior pieces and other bits. I grabbed what I could but he still has a lot parts he's going to sell from off of the car if anyone is interested.

Clay,

Removing and installing glass especially the windshield on classic cars I believe is always risky.
There's just so much to go wrong, and nothing ever seems to go back properly how it's supposed to with our old Cads once things are taken apart.

What makes it worse for our cars, is all the exterior chrome trim that needs to be taken off carefully, including the interior trimmings.
When something has been on the car for almost 70 years untouched, a struggle to remove stuff will definitely occur and curse words to add to the frustration.

Thankfully 50's and for the most part 60's Cadillacs dont use any plastic clips or tabs that can easily break unlike modern cars.
