The service manual list A-90-EP oil for the transmission in my 1940 LaSalle.  I cannot find any such lubricant. Some suggest that 80-90 will work just fine. What do you think?

I have used 80W90 in my 1940 LaSalle for the last 16 years, both in the transmission and the rear end. In the interest of safety, I would use GL-4 instead of GL-5. GL-4 is harder to find, but GL-5 supposedly has additives which can attack bronze parts in the synchronizers.

Thanks Harry and Alan,

Found GL-4 80/90 on Amazon and just ordered a quart.  No luck buying in our rural community.
