Can someone tell me if a 4362 fuel pump I think from a 1957, fit on my 60. Appears mine is not pumping. They look the same. I just took the top off my fuel pump, theres gas on one side ,the side on the bottom, but no gas in the top side where gas goes to the carb. Does anyone see what the problem may be here. This pump is fairly new 6 months.

Practically, they are the same. However, if I'm right, the top cover was different on the 1957 model. Most probably somebody will be able to explain the difference, my English is too basic for that.

Yes I think you are right Roger. I think someone may have switched tops, But do you think I can put t on my car? Will it work

The top cannot be interchanged, its shape is different. The whole pump was replaced sometime because '57 pumps were not reproduced. Unfortunately I don't have a picture for such a pump; maybe Goggle could help.

54-57 pumps interchange, 58 (except brougham) 59-62 interchange according to the interchange book.

Those who have a 1957 shop manual: look at page 10-12 you will see the "real" 57 fuel pump with his slant cover.

Fuel pumps a mixed bag at best. A 57 pump on a 60,you can't tell by the numbers, but I think it could work.

    Specs: except Brougham (electric)
   54-56  4 to 5 1/2 psi output, 22 cc min.,1/2 pint min.
   57-62  5 1/4 to 6 1/2 psi output, 25 cc min, 1 pint min.

Hollander  54-56 same , 57 same except higher output could cause flooding
            58-62 different number

 Cadillac
    pumps       54-56 AC 4269
                57 AC 4362
                58 AC 4491 Replaced by AC 713
             59-60 AC 4622 Replaced by AC 713

       Repair kits

           57-58  AC R-358  pumps stamped 4362 or 4491
           58-60  AC R-465  pumps stamped  4622

If  the 57 and 58 pumps must by made internally the same. The 58-60 pumps mount the same. So it would appear it is a mounting question with the 1957 pump.  I know the 57 water pump is a mirror of the 58-62. It could line positions . Maybe just rotate the top?

So I put the 57 on my 60 and it fits perfect,it also leaks LOL, Trying to find another one now, maybe I will buy 3, have spares. Question, my car has A/C so I have a return line. I found another pump here that I will try but has no return line, Is that ok not to hook up return line? Just hose from pump to carb. I know the return line is on the filter but cant hook up glass filter, so Im going to put a filter before the pump
