Hello, I intend to restore
a '29 LaSalle,
Family sedan ( five seater),
Job # 8555
Serial # 416901

Need to know the correct color & trim combinations .
This car was listed on eBay long ago, any details or pics will be highly appreciated.

Dev,

Is there a metal tag on the firewall?  It should list the body number, exterior paint code and interior trim number.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply but the firewall has Fisher tag with Body and job number, embossed.
The other, bigger is the LaSalle patent with punched serial number at the lower end.

Without the other numbers from the Fisher badge ,I would normally be at a loss .
From LaSalle Cadillac's companion Car,there is help. Style 8555 only had one trim type. "37 T 129 Gray cloth with Brown Stripe. Broadlace trimming around the doors and back of front seat is omitted on the style 8555 family Sedan. The Family Sedan has individual type vanity case with leather cover, all other closed models have walnut cases."

Hello Warren,
Many thanks for the detailed information. This is quite helpful in understanding the color trends back then.
These color combos, as mentioned in the book, were used in the beginning of the production and with the LaSalle policy of introducing new color combinations throughout the year, were more combinations offered later in the year?

Please advice.

Dev

The 543 combinations would most have been special buyer requests. Yes some were new suggestions of the Cadillac Sales department. Not likely more than a couple a month.
Cadillac must have been very good at the special paint jobs. Maybe that is why their standard color information is hard to find. I got lucky on my 1931,it came Classic Blue/Black.Colors that were used many years. There are a few Chips (one color to a card) around before 1932. Except Cadillac Dealer information, pages with a full set of chips or even an index seem to start in 1932.(At least that is all I've found)

Hello Jim,
Many thanks for the above information.
By using the links mentioned above, I received the order sheet last evening.
She is an all Black diva.
This brings up the other difficult question - the interior combination # 37 T 129.
Does someone has an idea about the gray cloth with brown stripes ? Any older pic or literature will be extremely helpful.

With best regards,
Dev

Hello Warren,
I intend to restore the car to her original specs and seek your help alongwith all esteemed members for a pic , drawing ,writeup about the interior combination # 37 T 129.
As you have mentioned 'gray cloth with Brown Stripes' , need to know the nature of fabric amd how thick were these stripes ? Also unknown is the pattern on the seats and door.
I assume the headliner to be a matching Gray broadcloth.
Please correct me if wrong.

Regards,
Dev

I'm afraid I can only be of minimal help. There are 4 car owners listed in Club directory as owners of models 8555. They may be willing to help.
In general three types of upholstery were used in each car.
     Headliner a lightweight cloth
Side walls/Door medium weight of the same material
Seats ,this would be where the stripped material was used.
Try to find, even small fragments of the interior  factory cloths . Hundreds of cloths were used, and very few are available today. The best match is your best bet.

Hi, thanks once again for the valuable information.
I tried finding more cars with same model designation but nothing shows up on the net .
Meanwhile, what's the best source for the correct upholstery fabric for car? SMS perhaps?

I also need all the dash gauges, clock and the lighter. Any leads will be appreciated.

Devendra Singh

Rejoinder to my post, I found the attached pics of the seat cover and door pads that came with the car prior to the restoration. The car then had little of the original black color on her but did sport the original running board ribbed rubber mat with the LaSalle logo embossed.
I will be thankful to the members if someone can confirm this to be the original fabric or share their observations.
With warm regards,
Dev

Experts, I seek your help yet again on the '29 upholstery combination #37T129.
Any pics or details about this will be immensely helpful.
The headliner, will that be dark gray or light gray or beige / brown any thoughts?
Gray fabric with brown stripes... will this be just on seats ?
The build sheet mentions an all black car with white pin stripe
Please advise.
