At a weight probably comparable to a Hum-vee or smaller MRAP A deisel engine would be much more appropriate

It is a modified vehicle.

Look at the thickness of the door.   No wonder it has to be opened by a fit human, and held open, as the door check straps on any automobile would never hold such a weight open.

As for Cadillac?   Well, it could be a truck with Cadillac bits put on it, or a Cadillac, gutted, and put on a truck chassis.

G'day Bruce. The Presidents Limousine is only a Cadillac in badging and interior appointments. It is built on a GMC Topkick chassis (a dump truck frame and suspension). It is said to weigh 18,000-20,000 pound. The body is custom built to resemble a Cadillac. Most of the details about the car are classified.

Seems like not too long ago one of the car channels did a fairly detailed interview and tour of a facility that may or may not have had a part in doing the 'conversion' and they did show some details on what could be similarly spec vehicles that were being built for other clients.  It was pretty interesting that they could still get something resembling performance and handling with all the weight they added.

Yes it is.
A Cadillac is/used to be the best of the best. You could get it appointed however you want, and they were distinguishable from any other car out there. It also said something about the success of the person in it.
So, I'd say the Beast fits that.

Interesting, rarely seen look at the presidential vehicle. Sounds like it's powered by an Olds 350 diesel!

While something built to these specifications could probably never be beautiful, it is interesting to me that the designers decided to craft something that draws pretty heavily from the traditional past of the brand, and create a vehicle that is supposed to represent the nation. The tail lights, hood center trim and overall profile definitely draw from designs of the 1950s-1980s, the most commercially successful (and critically maligned) era of the marque. Ironically it seems that this is the "look" the brand has been most desperate to distance itself from over the past 25 years-yet has been chosen to create a vehicle that is "built to resemble a Cadillac"

I have to wonder what the commercial viability of a range of full size vehicles (SUV, sedan and coupe) might be in todays market if they adapted the overall look of this vehicle to a civilian spec. GM's most successful years usually involved a formula of introducing a new design on their upper models and then trickling its features down thru the economy models as years went on. You would think that the Presidential limo wouldn't be a bad place to start the trickle down from.
