I'm thinking about replacing the trunk liner material in my 1961 Cadillac.  I want to keep the look as original as possible.  The existing material is a gray, burlap type fabric.  I've seen lots of types of material available, but it doesn't appear to be correct.  Any suggestions of a reliable supplier?

Thanks.

Are you talking about this one. I waited 2 years for this from SMS because they had go make it. I hope they made enough to still have a supply.

Here it is next to my original, dirty. Spare tire cover.

Yup. That's it.  Was there a special order number or something to identify it?  Thanks

No there was not. I just said trunk lining for 61 fleetwood. I don't know if lower trim levels had something different. I know my 61 series 62 had different material on side boards.

Thanks, Carl.  How many yards are needed for the trunk?  And do you know what type of underpadding is used?

I don't know how many yards are actually needed. I just bought a lot. You have the cardboard on the sides, then the thick fiber mat on the bottom. I don't really I know the name of the material, and I have not decided what I am using yet.

I was surprised to find a sample from SMS in my mailbox just a couple days after inquiring via their website.  I was able to order 4 yards via telephone.  They say they have it in stock, and I should get it within 2 weeks. I must admit I'm a bit nervous after reading all the scathing reviews of their customer service.  Their quick response in sending me a sample (and it's a perfect match) gives me some faith that it will all work out.  I'll post when it arrives.

They may have it on hand from the previous order. But don't be to encouraged by quick samples. They have a room of precut samples that they use. They even have precut samples of stuff they are sold out of.

But I know for me a minimum order for manufacture is 300 yards of fabric. So if they had an order that size when I ordered mine they should still have a good amount left.
