My big criticism of Bill Hirsch paint is that it is very slow to dry. 24 hours and this is still tacky.

I probably should not have bothered yet. 20250320_173721.jpg

And there's no baking instructions to it?

So I dropped off my distributor for rebuild. The guy said there is no actual charge.

He advertises a price to just get serious people. But he is retired and does it just to keep from getting bored.

I stopped by Inline Tube a week ago to negotiate with them to make a longer version of their current 61 Fuel lines. It was a pain at the time, but it looks like they did exactly as I asked. Now I hope I gave them appropriate directions.

The additional length is not bent. But I knew that and it is not what I asked for. Originally I wanted 20 inches from the last bend. We settled on 15 inches from the very end because he could not see the last bend on his 2D print for one of the lines. I told him they were a matched pair and had similar bends. But decided it was not worth arguing.

Note on the remade lines they have the same bends.

Well the tubes are a couple of inches longer then they needed to be. But it doesnt harm anything and works fine.

I will need to fine tune the placement of the rear ends. But I will wait until I have a fuel tank and sending unit for that.

I picked up my rebuilt distriutor today. We spun it up to 5000rpm and the advance was perfect along the way.

I bought an AC water pump core off of ebay. I want to have a replacement on hand for main components.

It was crusty looking. But the casting is actually in a less corroded condition then my current one.

I am currently running off of a generator. So I bead blasted until my compressor tank was empty.

When I feel I have cash to spare this, with two fuel pumps, will be shipped off to AG Rebuilders for restoration.

My power is back. 4 full days out.

So I managed to get a little more cleaning on the water pump core. I know they will boil it and clean it during rebuild. But I wanted to get a good picture of what I have to work with.

So I had to get out one of my original door conduits to reference for someone today. The closest you can find to fit now is C5/C6 Corvette.
I decided to clean it a bit to see what I am working with. This one is actually in much better shape then I thought it was.

I think I will work on modeling this in CAD. That will be the first step in trying to have them reproduced. This was molded straight and open. So it will take a little imagination for that.

A couple of purchases this morning. A small lot of tail light chrome and lenses. And at another location that had a lot of trim fasteners I purchased a bunch of bulbs for my car.

This is a set of plastic trim pieces for the 61 Cadillac steering wheel. My originals broke in pieces. These are off my parts car and also feel very brittle.

This weekend I have to mix up some fiberglass resin to work on another project. I think I am going to lay some in the back side of these to stabilize them. Then I can clean and sand the top surface to get them ready for paint.

They need to be painted the same color as the steering wheel. So I most likly will wait until after the steering wheel is done to paint them.

Debating on color. The steering wheel and rear steering wheel trim was molded/cast in the same color. But that color has severly changed over the years. I can only assume it was a grey/blue/mint color originally. If I find someone to recast the wheel I most likly will not get a paint to match for the rear trim. If I find someone to restore and paint the existing wheel, I should be able to match the paint.

Here is a selection of interior parts and the various blues that exist. I have not decided how to select a blue for the wheel yet.

You can find the steering wheel color if you grind down a area on it.  Where the chrome is that separates the grips from the rest of the wheel, there should be non-discolored material.  It won't hurt anything if you are going to have it recast anyway.
