Hi,

My usual go-to for decodes is the RRR color database
https://rrrclc.org/the-cadillac-color-upholstery-accessory-database-1940-1979/

1970 Coupe deVille,  I have decoded it all except for the three codes below.

If someone has an alternate chart, please point the way.

"J" next to the PAINT code, I thought was  for the vinyl top code, but I see only numbers listed.

"I" in accessories says it's for rim blow, according to RRR. I thought this was a '69 only standard item?

10E - where do I find this RPO?

B - The car is triple white with a bench seat car.
I see B 'might' be listed next to the trim when buckets were installed.
Then B is for Eldo only buckets. I thought they were offered through '70, but have never seen them in a '70 other than an Eldo. When else is B used?

I've decoded the rest, so we're only discussing the red circled codes in the picture. thx, Jeff

That 10E looks like the normal manufacturing date code. 5th week of October 1969

Thanks 'Clew',

Thought they were all at the upper LH corner. Two codes remaining.... thx.

J is the color code for white vinyl roof. At some point they went to two digit roof codes on the plate.

In previous years, the B (buckets) appeared as a suffix to the TRIM code, ie 352B. I would think the same was done in 1970.

Can't help with the I B codes.

Hi Eric,

My apologies for not being more clear about understanding about the use of B next to trim.

Can you cite where 1970 top codes are listed as letters? I'm referring to the codes in the RRR chart only seeing numbers. Yes, an easy deduction, but looking for more accurate sources.

Sorry, I haven't gotten the hang of screen shots and when I tried to upload a photo from the 1970 Specs Manual, it was too large to attach here.

Here's a link to the 1970 Specs manual. The vinyl roof codes (with letter) are on page 169 of pdf.

Replying in order
#5 - Eric, thanks for the link and info. I'll see if Ralph Messina can update the RRR database.

#6 - Bob, If this is true, I wonder why the '1' to the left in the date code looks like a '1' and the 'I' in the accessories doesn't. Seems silly anyone would get them confused.

Did you read the 1970 Specs Manual I sent you the link for?  You have the 1970 Bible at your fingertips.

Mr. Burland, I think you're relying on the sales order codes in the data book or Optional Specifications Manual for your decoding of the options for a 1970 Cadillac body made in Detroit. That works fine for paint, trim and top, but it's not going to work for some of the options in the last line.

The option codes that start with "E", "Y" and so on are Fisher Body codes embossed at the "Fleetwood" body plant, not sales codes. "E" = EZ Eye tinted glass. "Y" = power seat adjuster, driver's side. "S" = remote trunk release. "L" = power door locks for a two-door car. "K" = Climate Control. "I" = stereo speakers, as Bob said. "B" = rear window defogger.
