I assume there is no official stat?   People leave trailers at their hotel or wherever they can find and drive to the show grounds so no real way to tell?  I would imagine things get pretty congested with trailers especially if/when there is loading and unloading going on or when the cars are not on the trailers and parked near where the trucks and trailers are like many of the hotels?

Anyone care to make up some stats based on their observations?

The show takes place on-site at the hotel. Looking at the map I think trailer parking is elsewhere.

When a numbered spot(s) is empty all week and a vehicle mysteriously shows up in that spot(s) the morning of the show, you Know that's trailer queen.

I assume these numbered spots are what you get assigned and that is where your car goes for the official open hours of the show?  And you can and the 'drivers'do park in those spots the whole time they are on the show/hotel property?

That's the way its supposed to be. I'm a 100% disabled veteran with a DV plate and parked in a marked disabled spot last night. This morning I got a call from the show field volunteers to tell me that I was in a spot assigned to a LaSalle. Turns out those disabled spots were also numbered and assigned, so I moved my car to the far away corner partially under a tree...

I've seen that happen where a participant can only make it to the event on show day and the car was driven.

Being on the parking lot duty crew, every spot is assigned to a registered car. A few that couldn't make it for a variety of reasons do leave empty spots and also there are those that will not take their cars out of the trailers until showtime.

The trailers are being stored at a secure site off premise. The Club arranged for security to make sure nothing happened to them. So far, so good. We were expecting more trailers than the hotel had room for. That is why alternate arrangements were made.

Too bad the club couldn't arrange for the spots being "secure" from tree sap. Yesterday I found my 1996, which I left in its assigned spot, under a maple tree, covered in tiny tree sap particles. This was after having paid beaucoup $$$ to have it thoroughly cleaned, waxed, "clayed", etc 5 days ago.

I spoke with some menders about and I'm not the only one who has had this happen to their cars, but mine being right under a tree got hit particularly hard.

When you register are you asked if you are using a trailer or do the planners have to just guess?

So on the map where it said unloading zone the idea is if you had a trailer you would unload your car and park it in the assigned space then drive your truck and trailer to the remote site?   Do you then leave the truck and trailer there or just the trailer?   If you are leaving both is there some sort of shuttle ride back?   In that case it would seem like you would just unload at the remote site and drive your car back to the site.

When you register in the beginning you indicate whether or not you have a trailer. Personally, I see no reason for off site trailer parking as there is ample space for parking at this place. Trailer could have been parked properly, as in parked tightly in the back lot with more than enough room for any other paying customers plus our towing vehicles. The hotel management is just being pricks. We could have parked 200 trailers and tow vehicles and not interfered with their daily business.

When taking the trailers and dropping them or leaving the entire unit, we just get together and go over to the trailer yard and whoever is just dropping, brings someone else back. No shuttle rides. Just about everyone knows everyone here and it's a non-issue.

There was a $50 trailer fee at registration, but I believe that was to pay for the security service and the lot itself.

I agree that the hotel did not need to insist on off premises parking for trailers, but apparently they want to keep as may spaces available for them to charge guests.

As for the tree sap problems, I took the Fleetwood to a car wash this morning and it got everything cleaned off in a single pass through the wash. I'll let others know. The car was was only 3 miles down the road. The little wash area behind the hotel might also suffice, but my war was covered with it. It has its cover back on until Friday.

I live with the registrar, and can tell you 32 trailer permits have been issued so far.

The hotel charges guests $14 per car/truck to park in their lot. We were charged half of what the offsite parking lot charged the Club. The CLC ate the remaining $50. Had the hotel charged us $50 to park the trailers in an out of the way place they could have made a little more than 2 1/2 times what they charge regular guests.

There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that many don't know about, myself included. So instead of crying about it, I inquire about it and get the correct answers from the hard working people that set all of this up for us to enjoy. To them, I say thank you for their dedication to the Club. I don't believe I've come across anyone that it being paid for any of this.

While riding the show field all day I pick up trash and tree limbs to keep the area looking nice. We placed 6, 55 gallon trash drums on wheels in the show field area and I still find paper and water bottle on the ground within 20 feet of the barrels. One person asked why I was doing it. It should be the hotels maintenance staff that does it. I just gave him the 'DUH' look and said it was for the Club and showed him my volunteer badge. He shrugged his shoulders and turned around. I'll gladly do the same thing next year.

Being outside, I get to look at all the cars all day and meet all the great members that come out to look also. I'm having fun helping the Club and to me, that's all that counts.

G'day John,

Congratulations on doing a wonderful job and passing on what you have found about the running of these events.   Sorry I cannot be there.   If I was I would be assisting.

Lynn Gardner sent me some pictures, and your Eldorado looks stunning.

$14 / day ?!?!? The hotel made no mention of this when we checked in. I also notice that a few cars have the little hotel parking slips, some with "comp" written on them. At the risk of opening a can of worms, I might have to ask the  hotel staff about this.

As far as trash, etc, I never ceases to amaze me ho lazy and "slobbish" some people can be. I noticed the barrels and picked up a lot of trash at the far end of the field.
