I just read an article that said that GM may discontinue Buick and Pontiac if sales of the divisions vehicles do not improve. That would really be a shame. The article was entitled "Is Buick Next?...GM may discontinue Buick and another of its storied brands". I held my breath while I clicked on the link hoping the other division was not Cadillac while thinking it was Pontiac, which it was. The article made clear that the corporation is just beginning to consider these moves and that it was unlikely they would occur. A GM spokesman said that Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G6 sales were on the way to having record sales in March. Since Cobalt has just been introduced and G6 sales have been dismal (less than half of those of the Grand Am which is replaced), record sales doesnt have the impact it normally would. I think theyd be better off discontinuing Saab and Saturn. Both divisions have had very poor sales and making Saabarus and Saab Trailblazers accomplishes nothing but ruining the Saab name. I remember that the last president of American Motors said that after reading report after report on AMC, he had begun to think the the name of the corporation was "Financially-Troubled American Motors". Lately, it appears that "Financially-Troubled General Motors" is GMs new moniker. At least Cadillac is definitely on the upswing.

I think all of GM is in trouble, and needs a real shakeup and quick.  If I was a betting man, my money would be on Pontiac to go next, especially since they are doing away with the Bonneville in June.  The GTO and Gran Prix are uninspiring to say the least!  Buick could be right behind.  Do they really need 2 SUVs and one van?  I think GM is putting too much faith in their SUVs and vans.

There stock is at an all time low. Their market share is dwindling.Health insurance is costing them over 5 billion a year!! Which adds $1200 to the cost of each new car. It is not looking to good for GM. They are being out classed, out sold and unions are killing them.
