I have a 61 sixty special w/power seats. The carpeting was replaced and  the seat tracks are bolted down on top of it. Shouldnt the carpeting be cut around the tracks for proper grounding? The seats dont currently operate. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeff,
There should be an earth lead from the frame of the seat on the right side (under the back of the seat). It goes under one of the floor mounting bolts.

Thanks Ivan. I remember one being there before the carpeting was put in. So then the seat is bolted down on top of the carpeting?

Best,
Jeff

Mine was bolted on top of the capet when I bought it,but it was a replacement carpet. Not sure how pretty (or ugly ) you could trim the carpet around the mounts so its steel on steel.
I know its a lot easier to get the seat bolts in & out if its on the carpet.
