1947 cadillac tarpedo. Parts or restore??????

 Where I live I found an 1947 cadillac two door for 2000 dollers.  Is it worth buying and rebuilding it or parting out ?

  Or let next deal guy with it. How much are worth fixed up and running.

 This 1947 was last driven 1987 and dont have title to car. It lost and dont exist in texas computer system.

 It has rust holes in rear window limp, hood, decklid, floor pans, roof of car , under winsheild , I dont know about doors,

 Car is complete and still black paint on car etc.

 Trim parts and bumpers no rust but needed recrome repliosh,

 Car has glass etc in tact, Tires still hold air .

 I think car  is why is it rusted like it did.

 Car dont run an is flathead , We dont know if engine frozen up.

 Interior looks like restored years and still intact. All dash parts there etc.

 Rust is bad . Is is worth buying and taking to rust buster to fix rust or geting car running and titled again.

 Or is dismanlte material to sale its parts on ebay. Is  there much demand for 1947 cadillac coupe parts?

 I do know this it cost an lot fix rust and buy new fenders or even find any parts for it.

 I have running 500 cadillac big block to install if needed in car if engine cost to much rebuild or if frozen.

 All I know bodyshop would charge so much money to fill all those rust holes with metal . Rustbusters could spray zinc and fill up all holes to fix the rust holes an whole lot cheaper.

 I want old cadillac to drive and enjoy. It could be good driver?  Whatever I do I dont want to an totol nut and bolt restore complete dismantle to bare frame and shell etc.

 I want build me cheap driver or whatever.

 any ideas . I never seen an 1947 cadillac or know anything about it. It could be restored or junked and parted. I could do either with car.

Hi Dale- A 47-62 coupe restored as a driver and not show should bring 18-25,000. A 61 series somewhat less. From what you describe, the car would need a complete restoration and then you will have need to invest more in the car than the car will bring when completed. I would say the person who sells it to you for $2,000 would be smiling all the way to the bank.

  This is rusted in the shell of car where glass frames out at, holes decklid, in top of above doors etc. In bottems of fenders.

 Its missing one hubcab and interior needed cleaning.

  Reason I was asking I did not know if old car worth buying and puting my building to work on later or do something with it.

 On completed sales on parts to the 1947 thru 1949 cadillacs. There not many parts that have sold out there on ebay. Its hard to say on what you sell dash parts, grile, bumpers etc etc from car. I was thinking since car was so low an production number in 1947. There maybe no or little deamand for parts to help the other 1947 cadillacs guys fix there car. Its rare old car for sure.
  When I sold 1959 thru 1964 cadillac parts ebay. My 1959 parts would go nuts compared cars years. The 63 or 64 Parts I have could never sell it seems last year. I still an pile of 63 or 64 parts I wish I could get rid off.

 Thats the car in houston on ebay. I talked with seller of car He was 2000 firm on car. I dont live very far from car and he said I could look at it.

 I know whats you saying about building an rod with 500 cadillac. I paid 250 bucks for running and driving old 1976 cadillac. I have an good running engine already.

 The seller of car said if dont sale he going cut the front clip off car and build an display or whatever.

 I wondor if worth buying and storing for rainey day since so close by. I dont have pay shipping etc

 Thats way I got my 1976 cadillac. At car lot I own. An kid from my ad in Newspaper . Cash for cars since I am dealer. The kid wanted 600 or 700 bucks for my 1976 cadillac to pay his rent on house since I think he was going get evicted or something.

 He drove in my lot with his car. I looked at and took out freeway and punched that old 500 and flew away. We came to office at car lot. I called salvage yard I sale my junk to. I did on speaker phone where kid could here it. Pick a part auto wrecking would pay onley 85 dollers for scrap metal price. Reason I did that reason car was wrecked and needed front clip frame damage etc. His wife went nuts since they just paid 800 or 900 for car wrecked that like that. I finlly knocked him down to 250 bucks for car and wrote an check for car. I told him I paying more than salvage yard will and I did.

 That day was dream come true and I drove that car around with grin on fase etc. I so happy I got my 1976 big gaint cadillac. I even bought an 1995 mitsubi with bad radtior for 100 bucks that day from guy. I sold 1995 next week for 1600 cash.

 It was funny geting drive that 1976 cadillac at lunch etc at lot. My detailman fell in love with my 1976 cadillac. He offered 1500 on payments for my 1976. I nicked name the 1976  sprit of 76. I had to repo my cadillac since he quit and would never pay for it. . He was  wanting pull frame and install and front clip interior etc to restore it.

 I so was happy get my sprit of 76 back in september . Its at home with  me as of this point. I sometimes drive at daytime down those old dirt raods and and I love doing spinouts and donuts etc in car. It fun raging that old big block.

 I love this old cadillac so much I want find an another car or something install its engine in to drive it and enjoy since I cant pull the frame and replace the intire front clip, door,  door panels etc. I would love give this sprit of 1976 cadillac an new life .

 I was thinking maybe this 1947 was an way use my engine or should find an beter body to start with. Like I said I dont wantdo an totol restore or rebuild on an old car. I just want an driver to drive.
