To all of you helpful souls;
     I am curious about how the engines from late 58 through 62 are balanced. Internal, external, weighted flexplates, etc.? Im trying to find the hidden vibration that I wrote about on this forum a while back...at the time I had assumed it was the driveshaft being out of balance because everything else had been replaced/rebuilt from the balancer to the U-joints, but I didnt think to see if it still had the vibration in park and it does. Ive tried removing the belts/pulleys and no change...actually it seemed to go from a pulsing vibration to a constant one at elevated RPMs. Any advice such as I received last time will be investigated and most of all appreciated. Thank you before hand.

Gday James,

These engines are internally balanced, and the transmissione are probably naturally balanced as there arent any reciprocating parts in there, just rotating parts, but the Fluid Coupler might be balanced.

Now, if the engine and transmission have been apart, was the spacer that is in the back of the crankshaft between the end of the crank and the fluid coupler left out?

Have you checked the tightness of the bellhousing bolts, the Flexplate bolts and the Fluid Coupler to flex plate nuts?   Sometimes these can come loose.

Do you have the vibration when going in reverse?
