Forties cars vent windows have a sliding latch actuated by a spring-loaded button.  If the button and sliding pin are missing, does the whole latch have to be replaced?  This could be a bit of a nuisance since the latch is riveted to the bottom of the vent window frame.  I have a vent window frame with the latch body, but missing the button and pin.  It needs replating.  Can the latch be fixed or will it need to be replaced after the plating?
