Hi All,

Im trying to decode the Fisher data plate on a 1974 Cadillac Coupe deVille. Ive got most of it except for the accessory codes. Im guessing on a few based on info from earlier models. If anyone can confirm or add to what I have below that would be great. ???? obviously indicates the ones Im unclear on.

Thanks,
Allan

I have been doing some decoding of my own lately.  These data plates are not so easy and are not infallible.  TR 370 is indeed Antique Jasper Leather; 30 is Lido Green and was introduced around April 1974; Youre fine thru Y.  E and Y were option groups of one thing each.

Remote trunk lock was T, with an order blank code of A90.  S is a sunroof and L is Level Control.  I have not seen an option or order blank code of SL in the 1974 Cadillac Salesmans Merchandising Guide.  Youre right about K and C, other one-item groups.

Cannot help on 1B or W6; these are build codes not shown in the Merchandising Guide.  However, if theres a lot of space between characters you may have a B, Lamp Monitors.

In the Merchandising Guide, Z is the Cabriolet sunroof option.  If that doesnt work, it may be a 2, which could be an AM-FM Stereo Signal-Seeking radio.

If its any consolation to you, I recently examined a 76 CDV data plate that indicated number 28 paint on a car with factory-applied number 29 paint.

I would be grateful to know the VIN of the car youre looking at to see how high the number is and whether it is a Q or an E VIN, especially since your car was made very late in the model year.  Maybe you would be kind enough to e-mail it to me?  (I am listed in the CLC directory under California.)

Automatic climate control was standard in 1974. The dual comfort seat was P or AM6. Y is the 6way seat with bench.  Trunk lock is T. Shoulder belts is AL...but only on Eldorado. Z is sunroof with cabriolet top. 1B is probably radio. I refered to the 74 salesmans pocket guide for the above information
