I am in need of a trunk lid for a 1939 LaSalle Conv. Coupe. I have been told on this forum that I need to know "what series" in oder to make sure that I purchase the right size replacement. Before I can make my need known in this forum, I need to figure out what series vehicle I have. It says next to the word "style" on the firewall plate 27-50. Is that the series I need to advertise?
Thanks for the help.

Hi, there is only ONE series LaSalle in 1939. It's a 50 series. Whoever indicated more than one series was in error. There are two series in 1940, however. The 50 series in 1940 was a carryover from 1939. The 52 series was a new body. HTH, Bob

Michael, I think that either a trunk-lid from a BUICK, or Oldsmobile will fit. Just have to be sure that it is from a Conv. Coupe.
Try to phone Hollinger, they have a toll-free ph. number, They put out an Exchange Manual for your car.Call after the "office-help" go home, and who evey answers can tell you which T-L will fit. They are in either WI or MI, so adust for time. Or, You may want to purchase the book. I have a copy, but I'M not a home right now or I could look it up for you. Gook Luck,JIM

If you have a convertible coupe, the firewall plate should read 39-5067; if it is 39-5027, you have a coupe. Doesn't make any difference as far as the deck lid is concerned. According to my 1954 Hollander's, you are limited in your exchanges to LaSalle coupes or convertibles in 1939 and '40, and Cadillac coupes and convertibles in 1939. Like Jim, I thought the correct series Buicks and Olds would interchange, but not according to Hollander's, though Buick can interchange with Olds.  When they compare 1940 and 41 series 52 and 62 Cads and LaSalles, they note interchanges for the same body styles, though the '41-62 cars have additional holes for the wider deck lid handles etc. I guess there are additional differences between Buick/Olds and Cad-LaSalle lids.
