That town car is interesting but ugly. It looks like a Frankenstein creation with a mid thirties rear grafted to a 41 front. The 41pontoon fenders do not blend well with the sweeping skirted rear fenders.

I think the technical term for that style is a Landaulette or Transformable Town Car.

I have already alluded to my hero worship of Greg Wallace. Here he is in 1992 explaining the "interchangeability" of Cadillac parts (a dual cowl Phaeton is in the background) and then handing me information on my 1958 Eldorado Brougham at the Clark Street Cadillac Plant. Also here he is at the GM Cadillac Museum in 1997 explaining a Cadillac engine to my friend from Texarkana. Thank you Greg for all the history you have helped to preserve on GM. Charles D. I am going to have Carla post pictures taken by me at the Museum in 1997 and at the Grand National in 2002 of six LaSalles. The first is the 1927 LaSalle taken at the Cadillac Museum in 1997. This was Harley Earl's first great masterpiece for GM. Next are a pair of yellow 1934 LaSalles at the 2002 Grand National-a hardtop coupe and a convertible. Next an orange 34 convertible, a gray hardtop coupe of 1936, and finally a 1940 LaSalle front that could use some tender love and care. I am in the later two pictures, and I could use some of that tender love and care as well. Charles D. Barnette-"Gee our old LaSalle ran great!"

Here are the 3 1934 LaSalles.  The top picture is a pair of yellow 34 LaSalles with one being a hardtop coupe and the other a convertible.  The third one is a beautiful "orange" 34 LaSalle convertible.

Here is the 1936 hardtop coupe LaSalle in the top picture, and the 1940 LaSalle in the bottom picture.  Lucky Charles Barnette gets to have his picture taken with both.  Eat your heart out Archie Bunker!

At the 2002 Centennial Grand National there was one 59 Pinin Farina Eldorado Brougham in the swap meet area and one 60 Pinin Farina Eldorado Brougham in the show area. Tomorrow Carla will post my pictures of same to show the really sharp contrasts between the two. Allegedly there were 99 out of the original 100 of the Italian 59 EBs since one was dropped in the Ocean accidentally during the transport process thus causing the 60 EBs to produce 101 units to make up the loss. Of course these rare Cadillacs were manufactured in Turin, Italy. They to me are magnificent in their own right even though they have for the most part been overshadowed by the GM 57-58 Eldorado Broughams. At first blush the 59 and 60 EBs  appear to be similar until you take a closer look. Note the hoods of the two-the 59 EB has a hood ornament with rounded parking light lenses; and the 60 EB has a badge on the hood with more square parking light lenses. Note the sides of the two; both cars introduced future styling for regular production Cadillacs. The 59 EB introduced the regular 60 Cad production top rear fins, whereas the 60 EB along with the 59/60 Cyclone Cadillac Show car introduced the 61 and 62 regular Cad production lower body rear "skeg" fins. Interesting! The pictures will show front and side views of both the 59 EB and the 60 EB; the remaining 2 pictures will be of the interior of the 60 EB. Charles D. Barnette-still hoping that a Cadillac Motorama Mood car can be found!

I would like to do one more post after this one as a tribute to the 59 Cadillac before this thread is done. Meanwhile to help fortify our love for Cadillac, Carla will post my pictures of three modern Cadillac classics. The first is the fantastic 2003 Cadillac Sixteen Concept at its Detroit Debut at the Detroit Opera House during the 2003 Detroit Auto Show. Next is a rear view of the exotic 2003 Cadillac XLR-Neiman Marcus Edition as it appeared at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show as well. Finally, there will be a picture of the futuristic 2008 Cadillac Provoq Concept at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show (the Provoq is driven by a hydrogen fuel cell). Charles D. Barnette-the 59 tribute will be posted tomorrow.
