Here's a couple more.  We drove the 1941 around without a body when we first got it running, took the seat out of a 1957 IH.  Now that was exciting.

And here's a 55 Chevy I got soon after, my first real hot hod.  Built 350, 4 speed and 456 posi rear.  It got me in trouble and I sold it for $1,300.

Still can't remember what car I took the test in but I think maybe it was a 67 Dodge Dart 4 door, white.

Thank-you Charles D. Barnette for starting this exceptional thread. From AMCs to Wolseleys, what a cross section of years and marques. I have certainly enjoyed reading every response and look forward to many more.

Yellow is my favorite color Ted but that '55 Chevy looks like a Checker cab.

Here's my first car (and me), a 1946 Cadillac. I bought it when I was 10 and sold it when I was 15. I never got to drive it.

I bought the '68 Camaro from the original owner in the 1980s when I was a freshman at Georgia Tech. I spent my student loan money on the yellow and black paint scheme (Tech colors)

Correct, old pic I used in a CarIQ user quiz application on fb, did it to keep focus on the Vaz instead of the "Volga" to the right..
In this forum it looks as if it had the opposite effect  :D

Man. I've heard of Photoshopping a face so it can't be recognized......but decapitation is a little overboard huh???    ;D

What planet have you been living on JK?  Like removing a woman's face is going to keep guys from focusing on them?

Hell, most of the time we don't even notice they have a face!

I think you removed the wrong portion of her anatomy to accomplish that objective. Post the un-retouched photo now.

I was so lucky to go for my test in my 1957 210 Chev sedan, two tone green in 1976. As the driving schools were on 2 weeks strike, I took the option to drive my own vehicle.  The chev is right hand drive, three on the tree, six cylinder.  I did the same trick, as my hand brake was not working, so I did the perfect hill start, not a fraction of a roll back. But alas... the testing officer wanted to see the hand brake hold. Darn, all the other skills, reverse park and driving were good, just the hand brake failed my day at the wheel.  I had to wait another 2 weeks to get a test, it killed me.  Oh well here I am today, driving the best cars in the world.

My first driving test was back in 1968 or so, driving my mother's '62 Buick LeSabre four door hardtop. I had to retest in 1977 after I was hired as an emergency medical technician, which required a higher classification. I took that in my '67 Olds Delmont 88 coupe. Had I have failed that test, I would have been walking home, as they would not give you back your "original" licence.  Pretty scary at the time.

Wow, that was a real gamble. Would take a brave man to take that test,. Guess we would all be walking.

Nothing exciting for me.  A 1994 Mercury Sable s/w.  It had an expired safety inspection sticker, luckily, the garage around the corner could take it in right away.  If not, I would've had to wait another two weeks for the examiner to be back from vacation.
