Bill -- I live in Wexford, PA just a few miles south of the Butler County line.  I'm about
3 miles off the I-79 Route 910 (Wexford) exit.

We have a pretty active Club here in the Pittsburgh Region.  You can check out the website
at http://www.clcpgh.org/

We have events all year -- in fact, this weekend is our 25 Anniversary Banquet.  I was the former
Director of the Region, from 2001 - 2007.

We'd love to have you stop by at one of our future events!

[/quote  What's this post got to do with AMALIE motor oil, maybe we all missed something here where this oil is produced?  EAM

It was not about Amalie -- but other oils came up later in the discussion and we got a bit
off topic I guess.  You'll will see this if you read the entire thread.

Quaker State (as well as Pennzoil, Wolf's Head, Kendall and others) were
all produced in the Oil City, PA region -- where, incidently, the first oil well
in the world was drilled in nearby Titusville, PA in 1859 by Edwin Drake.

However, the names of these companies have all since been bought out by others
about 20 or so years back and there is now little oil produced in this region.

That's why the conversation started about the PA area.  I have no idea where AMALIE
is made, which base-stock they use, or anything about it -- good or bad.  It would be
easy enough to find out with alittle research.

OK?

Wolf's Head Motor Oil lists the same address although it is not listed under Amalie in the list below --- this list is supposed to be accurate but it may not be 100%.  Note who is listed as the maker of Pennzoil and Quaker State.  They are also listed as the makers of Wolf's Head but may not make all of the Wolf's Head products.

Here's a list I found to be very interesting from the Club Lexus Forums, and posted by "Pheonix" -----

Could be, I was talking about the multi-grade Rotella which many recommend thinking it still has the higher concentration of ZDDP.

Now that Quaker State and Pennzoil are owned by Shell, could it be that the only difference is in the bottle they put it in?

That's a very interesting point Dave.  I can't imagine Shell allowing those two brands to become inferior products. Quaker State and Pennzoil should continue to be good quality oils.  EAM

That's especially true as QS and Pennzoil sell at a premium price over Shell.

DAVE!  Not at Wal-mart  and Sam's Club stores.  Shell almost always sells at a higher price at most automotive spots, at least around here in NEW England.  EAM

At a big parts chain here in Atlanta, taking regular 10w/30 as an example, QS is $.60 more a quart than Shell and Pennzoil is $1.00 a quart more.
