Please view the post in the Forum Support forum, it has a poll about making a dark mode (i.e. dark color screens instead of bright white) available. This can be of interest for those that access the forums from a mobile device as dark screens use less battery power. But we need to know whether enough people want this before investing the time to install an extra mode.

1956 was the first year for 6-way seat.  That switch doesn't look like '56 Cadillac, though.

Could possibly be a Chrysler--definitely not Ford--the switches look GM-ish. Never seen one exactly like that !

Jeff,

The seat assembly is from the 1956, maybe early 1956 ?? There was a conversion added to the 1956 part of 363 0752 kit (spring pensioner) which the one on your picture does not have. I have two one with (attached picture) and one without (same as the one in your picture) the kit. The 1957 assembly changed drastically, the 1957 type the motor plus solenoid were on the left side (driver) versus the 1956 these were on the right side passenger.

As for the switch is looks like it is for the 1957, the 1956 is a slider, and the 1958 has a tab at the center switch.

It's not a '57 switch.  All 3 buttons on the early switches were a single piece and moved in unison.  For example, if you wanted to mov the seat forward, you would push the center button forward and the 2 tilt tabs also move forward.

Walter,

From the illustration on the Master Parts (a bit blurred) it seems the 1957/58 escutcheon has three individual squares openings for the switches, I though these were separate switches. I failed to notice the slider knob control.  :-[

Thanks for the clarification..!

Hi Jeff,

Here is a couple of photos out of my 1957 Fleetwood.
As you can see there is some differences.

Sorry I could not have been more helpful.

Jeff,

As I mention on PM..!

After a closer looks at the first picture of the mounting side, I can only see mounting holes at the rear, and I do not see any at the front. The second set is also not detailed from the front.

So I would say this is not from a Cadillac, possible Buick or Oldsmobile ??? The attached pictures show my unit mounting at the front (sorry could not get a good angle for the inside shoot). You can see the front selenoid on the second, and the front mounting holes.

I agree that for the most part, it certainly looks like a Cadillac with the exception of the mounting track to the floor. It is not like my 56 Cadillac track at all. The switch is a mystery as well.

Oh man that is good stuff. I have that bracket from a swap out but spring is Mia. Which set up do you recommend? With the added third spring?

Wondering if I have the right spring.
Schematic shows duplicate springs for outboard left and right. 34.0520. But one looks larger. Also I have this monster that came w a box of goodies.
