And by choosing 1938, you missed 2 additional V8s in 1937 and 1939.

Seeing as this is a Cadillac and LaSalle site, I would only be providing answers pertaining to Cadillacs and LaSalles.

So the answer is going to be every one, except for those with the V16.

Here is a interesting site. Cadillac had a lot of first's in its time.
Also made the longest car in 1975, or was it 76.

Foirrest, You made me think for a while after I read your reply that there was an additional  V-8 in the US in 1937 and another in 1939. I figured it out: Cord (gone after 1937) and Mercury (not introduced until 1939).

For heavens sake, the question was regarding V8 Engines in 1938.

Why bring up other years, and brands.   Cord and Lincoln for 1937 and 1939 weren't anything to do with Cadillac and LaSalles.

The question wasn't brand specific and the year is random.

Some might enjoy learning something they may not have known before.

What part of the question don't you understand?  ;)   1938 means 1938 and doesn't mean 1937 or 1939 to me.

And, seeing as this is a Cadillac and LaSalle Website...........

I meant 1938 was a random choice for the year. Why not 1923 or 1947?

In any case, if you want to get technical, the answer to the question should be the sum total number of Fords, Cadillacs, LaSalles and any other cars equipped with V8s extant in 1938. He didn't ask how many brands sold V8 equipped cars in 1938.

Thanks to Ford that number could conceivably have been in the millions.
