Cork Gasket--346 flathead V-8

The engine gasket kit contains a cork gasket that is 2 1/2"o.d. , 1 7/8" I.D. and 5/16' thick.  Where does it go?

Sounds like the front engine cover crank/pulley seal. It fits into a metal retainer and presses against the smooth surface inside the front engine/timing cover.
