OK - I'm on a roll with this new trick I learned about posting pictures . So . here's my 47 convertible . This is how I bought it . Color is correct for the year , but not the trim tag . Some paint cracks when seen up close . So .. repaint in the correct trim tag color

Paul Tesone

Sorry - forgot to sign my name again . It's getting late and I'm tired . Interior is vinyl and incorrect plete pattern . That's going to get changed this summer . Sheet metal stripped by hand . Paul Tesone CLC #6876

Good sheet metal under that paint. Very little rust found . Everything got an epoxy sealer. Paul Tesone CLC# 6876

Primer to all sheet metal. Then paint. I ended up doing the firewall and dashTWICE . I picked out a modern paint that I thought was close to the original color , the firewall and dash were sprayed , and three days later I met a fellow member at a meet who had the correct formula . Off came the new incorrect paint and on went the correct color. Thank goodness only the firewall and dash had been sprayed at that point. Paul Tesone CLC #6876

Rims were powder coated. Dash with correct color. P Tesone CLC #6876

Last summer at a meet. Rims now have dog dish hubcaps with beauty rims . The red really pops out with that combination . Still needs a new rug and the vinyl seats replaced with leather. That will hopefully be done within the next two months . Will follow with some final photos once the car has been completed . Thanks for looking . Paul Tesone CLC #6876

I like that color a whole lot more.
I don't think you have to sign your name in every posting. It appears in the left hand corner.

Nice job, on both of the cars.

Congratulations, it's just beautiful.  What is the name of that color, it's very striking?

Roy - thanks for taking the time to post your very kind comment about both my cars . I do appreciate it . I hope to have them both  completely restored by the end of the summer . Paul Tesone CLC #6876

Steven - I thank you for taking the time to let me know that you enjoyed the photos . It took me quite a long time and required help from other CLC members to learn how to post the photos in the correct size , so I'm glad you liked the results . I was very happy to be able to share them on the Forum's Restoration section . I too love the 47's color . It's called Seine Blue . I'm not sure it's an " exact " match to the original color , but I've been assured by the person who gave me the formula that it's as close as it will ever get . That person owns a restoration shop here on the East coast . He told me he researched the formula throughly and painted his own 47 the same color as part of a two tone color scheme ( the other color being grey ) . Even if it's not an exact match , I'm very happy with the results .  Once I get the existing vinyl replaced with a dark blue leather , I think the car will look even better . Thanks again to both you and Roy . Paul Tesone CLC #6876

Paul,

What a great job on your car. You should be very proud of it.

It is a good feeling to see the result of all the work slowly coming together.

I know how much work is involved in stripping every thing back to bare metal.

Well done.

Paul,
Who did your chrome work? My top frame is out for plating. Painfully expensive, but that is mostly due to pitting of the potmetal.

Hi Dan - I was fortunate enough that I didn't have to send out my grill or bumpers to be replated . That saved me a lot of money . However ,most everything else was sent out. Most of the pieces went to Paul's Chrome in PA. Some pieces went to a local guy at the suggestion of my restorer - it was less money , a quicker turnaround and the pieces could be hand delivered with personal contact with the plater . At least that's the reasoning I was given ; and I wasn't really disappointed with the results .We will see if the local guy's product will withstand the test of time .HOWEVER , I really do have more faith in Paul's Chrome ; and if I have a difficult piece , or something that needs repair , I'll probably send it to Paul's . Right now , they have my bumpers and some small interior pieces for my 37 , and will soon be getting the grill for the same car . The grill will be a big challenge for them, and probably for my wallet as well . They are not cheap , but I believe them to be reliable and capable of producing very good work . Good luck - and post some photos when you get a chance . Paul Tesone CLC # 6876

Thanks Martin - If you think I can be of any help with the restoration , just let me know . I've gotten pretty good at learning how to write checks , but my technical knowledge is still somewhat lacking . However , I'll be more than happy to pass along whatever I've learned . If nothing else , I might be able to point you in the right direction . Paul Tesone CLC #6876

Time for an update . Jenkins was unable to provide me with the color blue I wanted , so I bought hides from a leather company and sent them to him along with my front seat backs . I asked him to upholster the seat backs and send the rest of the interior to me in kit form . I've got to tell you , he did a great job . If the kit pieces look and fit as nice as they look on my floor , I'll be very happy. The blue color as it appears in the picture of the upholstered seat backs is lighter than it appears in person . The pictures of the kit pieces is a better representation of the actual color . Unfortunately , the car has been put away for the winter, and I'll have to wait until springtime to get the kit pieces installed . I'll post some final pictures then . Thanks for looking . Paul,

What a beautiful car and a wonderful color!  If I were to pick colors, those would be the ones.

All your hard work pays off in pride of ownership.  To hand strip is almost unheard of, although I am the type who would "attempt" it also.  I did NOT say complete it, but I would attempt it, LOL.

I was kind of surprised to see an hydramatic transmission in a 1947.  I thought they came out in 1948.  I suppose I was wrong.

Keep the photos coming, as they are GREAT!!!!
