i was tempted to buy but I could never explain that one to the wife.  She would have my balls in a jar.
also a NOS rear bumper is out there for $ 500

Davidinhartford

I saw that too.   For that kinda money I want it in the original box with the gasket and instructions.     Hell,  I'd still be queasy paying over $200 for it.

Aaron Hudacky

D johnson,

Where did you see the bumper?  I looked for it but couldn't find it on Ebay.  I saw it last week when it was $600. I need one for my 70, and need to compare the cost of that bumper with replating.

8 track installed and playing some groovy music.....got the
tissue dispenser right next to it...was an easy install.  getting
ready to send it to the body shop  and i may pull the bumpers for
a rechrome.....

Took it to out on the road and all I can say is  THIS CAR IS TIGHT.
I said it before and i will say it again....Starts/Stops/Runs/Drives/ and
Floats just like a caddy should.... Once it comes out of the shop Im gonna
go another Round with Ebay.......

Also found a set of Black floor mats.....Couldnt find a green back rubber mat
to save my life.

Davidinhartford

The car is looking good!

I resized the photos for you.

Thanks Dave,  I wish i coulld figure these things out..
Also, Is the hood ornament different on the 67-68 versus
the 69-70?  I am having a hard time finding one and
"Honest John's Caddy corner" sent me the wrong one.
so im not sure if there was a difference from year to year.

Right now I have the double caddy symbol....and im not
feeling it.

Let me know when you have a chance

Let me know what they will replate your bumpers for cost wise. (Mine was already done when I got my car) The weak spot on my Eldo was the rectanguler back up light housings. They surround the back up lights)  on my 68 Eldorado which were heavily pitted and it ended up costing about $300 bucks delivered to get them redone!  So maybe the $500 price for the rear bumper is not out of line if it is in top condition.

On another note,I just bought restored headlight rings for my 1941 Packard and they were  (gulp) $561 shipped!  So things really seem to go based on cost of chrome and rarity! I could not find another pair anywhere already restored.

am hoping to get both bumpers done for $800 to $1000.  When I send
the car to the body shop Im gonna pull them and send them to be done.
If its more than a grand I may leave them alone.  I buy these cars
to sell so I gotta try to hold the line.  But this one may be a keeper.
So  I am treating as if she is staying for the long haul.....

The Chrome and stainless on the 67  thru 70 Eldorados has to be clean
(in my opinion) that is one of the highlights of these cars needs to have
some  "bling" to it

Thanks Dave,

We will see what this round of Ebay will bring....(let us pray)

It is a great car so hopefully it goes to a very good home

Davidinhartford

I hope it does too.   But I'm glad you are helping improve it along the way.  Getting the front of the hood painted will help.

Don't forget the 2013 Grand National will be in Boston which isn't far.   You can show it there and maybe find a new owner for it.

Rob Troxel

I had been watching your car on EBay. If you do not sell, try these steps; Somehow the pictures posted there do not do your car justice.  I suggest you find a really swanky background to start with.  (Straddling a side walk is not good) Then get someone with a great camera to get the best pictures as really bright ighting can cause some cameras to darken the car image.  Holding the camera lower will get better shots of the grill and rear end.  If you can get some eye candy to help you , so much the better.  This car should sell!  All the best luck!

Thanks for the advice.  However, I find things are not moving on Ebay like they use to.  If you look thru the compleated listings.  you have many cars which were sold only to be relisted as the buyer was not following thru with the deal.  Some cars are listed 3-5 times before they go.   Also you see many cars sell during second chance offers well below the original reserve price.

I refuse to "give this car away"  it is wayyyyyy toooo nice.......  I will keep it and keep restoring it as I go.   The ride of this car is amazing.  I have owned over 8 of these (67-70 Eldo's) and this one rides and drives the best of all.  Only wish it had black leather interior...but the green cloth is in great shape.
also think i found a green rear floormat....(we will see if this one works)  Maybe I will detail the engine while its here.  Maybe throw it on stands and Detail the
undercarriage. I have a deadly Obsession with the 67-70 Eldo So whatever she needs she will get  so the next owner will have a great vehicle.

And for a hard working , middle class stiff (i know the middle class is almost exticnt and)...I think my driveway is pretty swanky....

Rob Troxel

I agree, this is too nice a car to "give away".  When I suggest upscale surroundings, there is no slam intended as to where you have taken the original pictures.  I would say that these cars were associated with the good life and its trappings.  Why not place the car in a great backdrop for photos?  When I drive my 68, I do get a little "boost" driving a luxury car that even today, turns heads.  Yeah, I know it's the car and not me(also an average Joe). I applaud your efforts to keep working on the car.  Eldorado's are a bit undervalued, mainly because there are examples out there that are pretty beat.  Yours is not one of them.

djohnson

I agree that a Great background makes a difference and took no offense to your comment.
And i apologize if it came off that way.  These cars were trendsetting and influenced a lot of
american cars from 71-80. (grand prix, toronado, thunderbirds. lincolns, etc) and one day
the will get their just due.
