Among the Cadillac dealer matchcovers I have, some feature a date, some don't, and they are not always easy to date.

Here are some dated ones, dated 1966-1969, 1972 and 1977. Notice the one-off 1966 logo, the absence of Vee or wreath for 1967-69, a wreath in 1972 and old-style lettering for 1977 75th anniversary.

If anyone here has a clue about 1968 dealer "Phil Renick Cadillac - 1100 South Euclid - phone 871-9300" location, any help is welcome.

And here are some undated ones, first with "flat" crest and wide Vee, looking like late 50s or early 60s. Anyone has a more accurate way of identifying exact vintage ?

This one's colors and graphics look like 1964-65, don't they ?

Many with crest and wreath, maybe 70s or 80s.

I have no answers, but want to compliment you on a fun and interesting hobby.

I enjoyed viewing them.

Nice collection.

If I had to guess, I'd put the following crest and V versions as follows: Collins at around 57-58; Speck at 54-56; Stoyer at 59-60; White Rose at 61-62.

Pretty much everything else with the crest and wreath at late-'70s and newer. Cadillac dropped the V from it's cars in 1970 & 1971 and sales advertising of the period pretty much reflected this. For promotional purposes, the crest and wreath more or less began in full force in the late '70s. All Cadillac cars (exc. Cimmaron) receiving crest & wreath beginning 1985-on making dating of the wreath version matchbooks difficult.

Dating matchbox covers is not an exact science, Philippe.  My "educated guesses", below,  are based on the similarity of the matchbox cover designs to sales literature items and User Manuals of the same period.

-  Collins, Greenville SC: 1957
-  Speck, Upper Darby, PA:  1955
-  Stoyer, Pottsville, PA: 1958 [though a "gold" background would have been more appropriate]
-  White Rose, York, PA:  1959
-  Gwinner, Flemington, NJ: 1965

Great collection!

I agree with Yann's approach.....

I believe the brown matchbook cover from AW Golden is circa 1975 - since the color scheme matches (no pun intended) the 1975 owner's manual and shop manual.

By the way - AW Golden is still in business and the owner has a few nice, old, Cadillacs!

Great collection - thanks for sharing!

Thanks to everyone for your help and encourageing :D

Another member sent me a message about Renick Cadillac being in Fullerton, Ca. - this forum is just terrific !
Yann, "great collection" in your words surely means something ;) !

I have a few ambulance companies matchcovers, too , featuring Cadillac commercial cars. I will post them when they are scanned.

Here are a few other finds, ambulance/funeral services companies matchcovers.

The first ones are undoubtedly 1957 and 1959, although bodywork is unknown.

The frst one is on metallic paper, so it is not very legible. I would date it as 1950.
The second one looks like 1951-52, what do you think of it ?

If this one is a Cadillac, then it is 1941-47. But how can we know ?

This one advertises Ed, a florist in Kansas City in the late 1930s.

I doubt the car is a Cadillac, maybe a Chevrolet... Or maybe Ed had no car at all, so representing a Cadillac just made his business look wealthy.

The last one is definitely not a Cadillac (1957 DeSoto ?), but very nice too.

The first looks 1948/1949 to me (closer to '49 IMHO);  the second is 1950-1953.

Is that all?

Thought you had a nice collection before. With these others it's an amazing collection.

Here are two other ones to identify, I date the first one back to the late 1940s-early 1950s, the second one to the late 1950s-early 1960s, but cannot be more precise.
