I spotted this 75 Eldorado.  What exterior color do you think it is?     The interior looks to be Firethorn Merlin Plaid, a late 1975 intro as a "Spring Special edition" color.

It is the exterior color that confuses me.   Could it be a faded Firethorn which was also a late 75 Spring Special Edition color?

And no, I don't have access to the body plate.

I don't think so.  Cerise had more of a rose pinkish hue to it.   This eldo conv below is Cerise Firemist.

It does look more like Terra Cotta doesn't it?       But the more I think of it, why would anyone special order Terra Cotta when the new Firethorn just came out?

I'm thinking it is Firethorn but looks lighter due to the direct sunlight on it.

I think it's Firethorn too.

Photos are notoriously unreliable showing the actual color. Variables of lighting, camera type, settings, etc all can have profound effects on the result.

Firethorn certainly matches that interior perfectly.  I'd say that's what it should be.

As an owner of a '75 eldo conv from sunny California in firemist "blue" i would agree that this is firethorne and add that its been bleached by the sun and the buffed too many times to try and get the original Shine and color back.    No luck on mine and it too would be hard to compare to the factory color chips

The lighting conditions are very different for the Coupe and Eldo above and account for most the disparity between the color values between the two cars- IMO. Even on the Eldo, the color appears lighter on the top than the side on which the sunlight is less direct. Also the Coupe may've had a more recent polishing/wax which will also deepen the color considerably.

Firethorn.

For completeness, one could mention Emberglow Firemist, a 1976 color that closely resembles the car in question, although I am not aware of it being one of the Spring/Summer 1975 exterior selections. My money is on "faded" Firethorn! (Although I've always liked the color Emberglow Firemist--shown below!)

Not sure if anyone cares now (after a year and a half), but here are pics of my parents' '76 Coupe in Emberglow Firemist, in 1985.  I dunno who that guy is sitting on the hood. :-)  Only including that one because it is the best representation of the color!
