I just went through having to replace mine on a '55.  Lots of luck!  I ended up having mine rebuilt at a cost of $83.

The rebuilder, whom I do highly recommend, is Terrill Machine, 1000 County Road 454 De Leon, TX 76444‎, (254) 893-2610.
