I have installed a new wiring harness that was made from my original harness. I have four (4) lead wires with female connectors that I am not sure where to connect.

I have a color wiring diagram but eh four leads are not depicted in the same color combo.

Of course I called lectric limited that made the harness and he tells me that he does not have that particular wiring diagram, which is odd because he advertises the wiring harness for a 70 Cadillac.

Anyway, the four leads are ending up on the driver side of the carburetor. I believe two of the four leads ( orange and orange/green) are for an automatic choke but the other two appear to be extra: maybe a cruise control and something else?

One of the leads is a double wire ( green /black) lead with a fusable link that was wrapped in  black electrical tape. The other  one is a green wire.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Dean,
You do not have an electric choke if your '70 is original. The double connector MAY be for the AC compressor if that is not yet hooked up.  The two single wires MAY be for the transmission kick down switch.  Check the voltage to the " kick-down" wires with the key on and the selector in Drive (engine off).  If you get 12 volts to one AND after checking to be sure the other is not a ground (check with an ohm meter) try jumping them and see if you hear a "small" click at the left side of the transmission.
Again, just a guess with the information you have to offer.

Greg is right.  I have three 1970 Cadillacs and I'm sure we can get this straight.

The colors don't look right.  The double connector up high in your photo looks like it goes to the compressor.  The other double would go to the kick down switch.  The lone wire up high looks like it plugs into the temperature sender.  There is a solenoid that is in front of the coil with three vacuum lines that also has a wire connection (double or triple).  You should have a total of 9 connections:

1-goes to temp sender under compressor
2-goes to compressor (one wire is from das, the other is a ground on top of coil bracket), so this only counts as 1 wire leaving fire wall

3-goes to kick down switch (double and single)
3-goes to vacuum solenoid in front of coil

I hit the space bar or something and it accidently concluded my response.  We can easily get your car wired correctly, my e-mail is rscotm@cox.net ( I can send nice pictures), or call me 703-283-2021.

It is great that you are doing this.

Enjoy your Cadillac!

Good morning Scott, I was going to call you this weekend to ask you these questions. (I received the interior door trim pieces, thanks.)

I have the ac compressor wired. So the second double wire plug (green/Black)with the fusable link is my dilemma.

The single wire with the male clip (Green) as you stated is probably the temp sender under the compressor, which I missed.

The orange and orange/green single female wires are then connected to the two prong round base of the carbswitch, if I understand you correctly.

I will call you Saturday, if you have time, let me know. Also thanks to Greg Surfas.

THANKS TO SCOT AND GREG FOR THIER HELP WITH MY WIRING. SCOT WAS ABLE TO TELL ME  THE  EXACT LOCATION OF THE REMAINING WIRING CONNECTIONS.

THANK YOU.

The lectrilimited-harness was correct and the same as the O.E.M. harness despite the inital problems?

Yes the Lectric Harness was correct, however I sent my original harness to them to use the original firewall "plug" connector. The color of a couple of the wires did not match the color diagram I had purchased and that was an early concern I had. Lectric will return your original harness to you with the new one, but they don't label anything( like Painless does on their harness)
So you may want to label your old harness wires as you remove them and then when the new harness comes back you will use your old as a guide.

The new harness is a great improvement for a 44 year old car.  Also, during the time I waited for the harness to get made, I cleaned the engine bay and painted the engine components with correct Cadillac color and POR-15. Thanks.
