Ok so I have a 50 series 62 and am having issues with the turn signals. Where do I began? Well hope this makes sense and someone out there in Caddy land can help. If you apply the turn signal say to the left, both dash indicator lights will flash like hazard lights, if you apply the switch to the right the same thing happens. And as far as the outside lights, the rear both left and right flash correctly but the front do not, they are opposite, in other words the right flashes for the left turn signal and vice versa. I am sure it is a ground issue but where? I have now started to re wire the front turn signals and am still having the same issues. I am at my wits end, this is a simple circuit but it is kicking my butt. HELP please!!!!

Do the brake lights work correctly?  If I am understanding your description, when you signal left, the left rear and front right signals flash? Is that right?  If so, it sounds like the front signal wires are crossed, the right is plugged into the left and so on.

As far as both dash indicators working, my 59 does that. I believe the problem is internal to the switch, but I am not sure.  On my 50, I noticed that both dash indicators had their own ground, even though the dash is grounded. When I rewired the dash, I removed those grounds and then the indicators didn't work, so i hooked then back up. Why they need a redundant ground, I don't know.

I think your 1950's turn signals are wired in a similar manner as my '49, since they have a very similar steering column and dash.

If so, just under the lip of the dash near the steering column is a plastic (or bakelite) connector with multiple wires going into both sides, with the wires held to the lip of the dash by one or two large metal clips.  The wires on one side of the connector come from the turn signal housing on the steering column, with each wire connected to terminals within the plastic connector to the wires on the other side which go to the 4 outside lights, the flasher unit under the dash, and the 2 dash indicator lights.

It must be that the wire from the steering column for the right front outside light is connected to the terminal for the wire for the left outside light and vice versa.  Using a jumper wire with alligator clips and a test light, you'll have to pull out each wire on both sides and, using the test light and jumper wire, determine through trial and error which terminal each should be connected to.  (It is a pain in the-choose your body part-but with a little perseverance can be done.)

I don't know why your 2 indicator lights are flashing simultaneously, but maybe you can determine the problem in the same way as above.  Good luck!
