.........1968, 69, or 70 deVilles or Fleetwoods built for export with right hand drive? No doubt, right about now, you're wondering why does this guy need to know that? Well, I'm having a heck of a time finding a right side mirror. I'm thinking, in England and Australia, these would be drivers side mirrors, hence, my hunting might be easier! Or am I grasping ar straws......

No factory-built RHD Cadillacs built in USA since the end of WW2.   I think the reason could have been that they couldn't build enough for local consumption, so why waste money fabricating the parts required for export.

But lots of people optioned up their cars with the Right Hand Door Mirror.

Not sure, but they could have been standard on Eldorados though.

Are you sure Bruce? It seems that at one time GM wanted to push Cadillac in England in the nineties with RHD Sevilles. However, I cannot document it; it was during the time I was "active".

This road test of the 98 Seville by Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear suggests you're right Roger.

Here in New Zealand , in recent years we got a whole shipment of factory RHD CTS's they were Aussie bound but found the shores of little NZ more inviting .Roger is correct we have had quite a few factory RHD STS's , SLS'S imported new from Singapore the cars had no milage on the clock when they got here  but were a year or old when they got here , the STS's & SLS"S have now reached Bogan status and are at scrap value. I am not sure of the exact years  as I wasn't  born in the 50's 60's but in about 1953 the Nimon Bus Company in the Hawkes Bay imported factory RHD Limos , there were also a couple of 1957's factory RHD cars that were imported for a Royal tour , there was also meant to have been a factory RHD 1959 car here .I have also heard rumours of other year factory RHD Cadillacs here. We did have a lot of Chevs , Dodges , US Fords , and other US makes Factory RHD up until the late 60's , but they were all base models the 59 Impala's were all 4 door posts.

Bruce may have only meant cars in the years that the OP was asking. There were many here during post war years but not sure if some outside company was set up to convert them rather than the factory doing it. We certainly have lots of them here from the 90s on-wards.

What do you mean with "lots"? 500 units for the whole UK?

'Lots' is just a term meaning plenty not a definitive number. I have no way of know exactly how many but there are RHD Cadillac's on our eBay all the time from the 90s on up and 'Plenty' in junk yards.  From about 15 years back I believe they were produced on the continent and on the Saab floor-pan when Cadillac had their fingers in that pie.
Just as a side note after the war there were a great number of US cars here in RHD form of almost every make. Don't know about the late 40s but during the 50s you could buy almost any make in RHD and I had a few myself in the 60s but must confess I don't member seeing any Cadillac's right handed.

Steve, it was more a joke as a question! According to a former co-worker who was at a London fair, Sevilles were sold in decent numbers compared to the rest of Europe, but not for a long time.
About the place of production: the VIN is saying that with the first digit. 1= USA, 2= Canada, 3= Mexico, and so on.
The unfortunate experiment with Saab was the BLS. If they were also offered as RHD, I don't know as I was already retired when they were introduced.

I can't believe sometimes Roger just how many of the BLS there are here for sale in RHD and how cheap they sell for. Our ebay is full of them.

I'm not surprised that they are cheap: try to get a specific BLS part, you will understand why nobody want them anymore: the suppliers for spare parts stopped the production as soon as Saab went belly-up.
I read somewhere in the past that the suppliers may begin again to produce the parts, but I doubt that it hapenned.

These right side mirrors were standard equipment on Fleetwood 75 Sedans and Limousines ONLY. They were DEALER INSTALLED OPTIONS on Everything else. That makes them Very Hard to find. 1968 is different from 1969-70 - at least in the mounting bracket, not sure of the door angle.
