Just picked up a 72 CDV but don't have a shop manual yet nor a wiring diagram. I have no power at the fuse panel for both the "Clock, lighter. Body" and the "Tail/Running" circuits. The following items do not work:

clock, lighters, interior courtesy lamps, horn, power locks, seat back releases, and all exterior parking lamps, side marker lamps taillamps and license lamp.

Since all these items are wired HOT and can be operated without the key, I was wondering if there is some sort of fusible link?

Any direction is appreciated until my shop manual arrives.

I don't have a 72 manual handy but from memory that era there was 3 fusible links.   All 3 went to a single lug on the battery terminal at the starter.    One direct to headlight switch,  one to fuse box for stuff that is always on,  and last one to ignition switch that then feeds the rest of the fuse box.

73 was for sure a year where there was a connector in that harness.  They got rid of it later so it must have been a common source of issues.  Its a 6 pin connector about a foot or so from the starter that has the 3 link connections in it along with the 2 solenoid wires.   The link wires are between the starter and that connector.   Rest of the harness is regular wire.

All that stuff is near the exhaust so plenty of chances for it to get melted and close enough to the ground to get wet and pick up road grime.

TJ, thank you for the reply.

The previous owner just put a starter on. Could be related. Since so many items are not working, it could be as simple as something burned out or unplugged. Will report back on findings.

Fusible link was the problem and was related to the recent starter replacement by the previous owner.

Whoever installed the starter zip-tied the smaller body feed wires coming from the starter to the transmission cooler lines. The wire insulation was brittle, had an exposed portion and shorted out.
