I'm considering a grille that was disassembled and polished, but apparently reassembled without the rubber anti-rattle strips.  The selller,a reputable metal restorer asserts that it is tight and does not rattle when shaken. Is it possible that it would not rattle without the rubber pieces, or is it simply a matter of time before I find myself disassembling it to install the rubber because it is rattling like crazy.

Not my solution but it sure sounds like it would work.  Go get some door/window screen fabric retainer material, the rubber, grippy stuff you shove into the groove on the screen window frame and cut that to the same length has the original rubber isolaters.

I will attempt this when the time comes.

I forgot to offer that I have the retaining clips that hold the bullets if you need to replace any.
