I know early '80s Cadillacs pretty well but I don't ever recall seeing one in these colors before. Initially I thought the car was color-changed but after double checking, it turns out Neptune Aqua is a totally legit Cadillac paint for 1981.

Must be one of the rarest colors that year.

Right up my alley. I love the unusual colors.  Matched with white leather. Can't imagine another combination.

I actually like it.  Very fitting for a coupe, IMO.

You fellows are all over it, the first thing is the wife loves the color of it!!!! BIG PLUS there!!! So now for the nick picky part of it,  upon visiting the listing for the car in one of the photos the light on the inside where the headliner meets windshield it seems to be of a yellowish color!? If it's not correct can this be replaced!? The rear fillers have been replaced according to the listing, upon viewing video, the fillers are missing the small chrome pieces inside towards the trunk?! I believe that the price is high, I've been watching 1977 to 1981's now for almost a year, and by no means does it make me a expert on them, I've been in the CLC for 5 yrs now and love it, I want to purchase a Cadillac that I can drive to GN's and be able to put it in the touring class, I've been looking at Alex's Dads car a 1981 Fleetwood D'Elagance in burgundy, but this one in the Neptune Aqua color is really different and according to Eric a rare color, well it's got me following the lure for now, and the mileage seems to be correct, so with that said what do you guys really think of this Cadillac?! I've also been reading here that it seems to be a good time to purchase a Cadillac covering the years 77 to 81. Thank you for anymore input and opinions on this Cadillac. Joe
BTW Dan your "77" is just gorgeous! I hope you've had a chance to get behind the wheel some!

Thanks Joe.

I have driven it for about an hour since I got it. The tires are 13 years old so I have a replacement set. Don't really want to drive with the old tires (like new but dried out) but since we had a salt application last week, it's off the road until spring. That gives me about 7 months to completely detail it.

Most comfortable Cadillac I've owned to date.

Looks like a "retro" color from an earlier era, late 60's
early 70's.

I like it though especially with the top color.  It
certainly distinctive!

Driver's seat showing some wear, bezel across the bottom of the climate control panel is cracked in addition the the demerits you've noted. Mileage is low but by no means super low. All things considered I think the seller is in for a long uphill battle before he gets anywhere near that kind of money, IMO.

My main reason for posting it was the color which I cannot recall ever seeing on any '81 Cadillac. I never saw that interior combination either. For ride and comfort, these cars are hard to beat.

This is a "rare" color and exclusive to 1981. If I recall, there were two colors "exclusive" to the rear-wheel-drive '81 Cadillacs and they were Neptune Aqua and Pepper Green. (Also, the '81 Seville had an even more "rare" exclusive color of its own that year, called Mulberry Gray Firemist--which I've seen on an Elegante model in two-toned Mulberry Gray Firemist over Bordeaux Red, but I have never seen it as the sole color, but it would be beautiful--and I've been watching for one for years!) This is a well-equipped car (appears to have the split front seat and Opera Lamps options) and it looks to be in great condition. Sometimes, the pure white components of a white interior turn yellowish with age, and they can be corrected by an experienced interior shop. There was another '81 color with an aqua shade, but not as bright as this color, and that was called Jadestone Firemist and it was often paired with a dark jade leather, if I recall. My parents ordered an '81 Eldorado back in September of '80 when the new models were introduced, selecting triple Desert Sand Firemist with a Claret stripe and that stripe matched the inserts in the Eldorados and Sevilles re-designed wire wheel covers, which they had selected, along with a bronze mirror-tinted Astroroof and the Opera Lamps. I think the Coupe DeVille in discussion is a real beauty!
