Exactly why the car needs to be purchased realistically and right priced I have not looked for finished 49 Coupe deVilles but I suspect $30,000 willbuy a nice one

had the same kind of low ball on ebay and on here. Hang in there. The transportation cost is not the sellers problem.  The hub caps are worth a small penny. These project show up around here from time to time,  and in the $4k to $6K ranges seems like what they get

John it’s not a low ball. It’s reality.

Speaking from experience this is a very complicated car to do.  The rust out shown in the rear quarter is a real issue.  Just like a door the quarter window has to allow for water to leak pass the window and down into the quarter panel.  Cadillac did not just have a drain for this.  It has double wall construction with an inner cavity (I call it a bucket) containing the water and a hose leading outside.  When all of this starts to rust out it is not easy to repair.  Basically either the inner bucket has to be dismantled or the outside sheet metal has to go to repair the inner and back on with the outer. Lots of hand fitting at the factory with the CDV also so lots of problems from one end to the other.
