Ground is everything

'Your passenger side brake light is not working properly,' says Wifey. She was right, it was very dim. Not only that, but the parking light element inside that dual filament bulb also went out when the brake was applied. Both 12v feeds were spot on to park and brake. The socket itself, being metal, for some strange reason, had lost its grounding according to my meter bleep test. Cure was simple, just soldered a grounding wire to the socket and ran it to the official ground wire for the whole light unit. Immediately back to normal but a frustrating fault when all initially reads ok.

Yes. You can also put some scotchbrite on the end of a screwdriver and spin it in the socket. It will clean the contacts as well as the base for the ground.
