And there is the stickers on the air cleaners. By the book they should be more to the left. Even though my original was actually on the right of the snorkel.

The sticker is a little annoying. Screen print would be better.

One oil breather is my original that was rusty and dented up. I did my best hammering it back.

The other is a reproduction that I bought from The Mother Brain.

And now I have spares to pack away.

Looking through Hagerty for a restoration insurance policy. I think it is time for that coverage at least.

That did not pop up but I did get a computer quote for a $40,000 guaranteed value coverage. $623 a year. I don't know if that would cover me while restoring the car, I need to look in to it. But that coverage would allow me to get a plate.

Restoration insurance is $254 a year.

Those little details that hang around and bug you.

I need to get a container of black plastidip so that I can coat my battery hold down like original.

Little steps must be celebrated just as much as the big steps, if you want to keep up momentum and enthusiasm.

My headliner bow retainers are cleaned up. My bows are still in the original headliner. I need to pull them out one at time to clean them then install into the pockets in my new headliner. I don't want to mix them up. 20241002_193348.jpg

For fasteners I am down to cleaning up scraps or random bags with question marks on them.

These are the clips that hold the stainless trim around the base of the rear of the roof. Does anyone know if this unique flat square style is available new?

I did not work on my car today. I spent the day redoing some plumbing at my Mom's house.

But at 8:30 I at least wanted to look at my car once today. I ended up picking up a scotch Brite and started rubbing down the car. Mostly removing 6 years of built up dust and debry.

By the end of the month I want the whole car sanded down, new paint on underbody, and primer sealer on the firewall.

That will allow me to paint the firewall and maybe door jambs in November, then back on the frame by Christmas.

By then all of my labor will be bodywork and maybe a step back into the interior. But all my money will be going into chrome.

I need to take these hinges off and sand under them. Then new pins and bushing and clean up.

I am going to have to check this out. Looks like some type of leak.

All I did today was clean up more hardware. And ended by looking at the front and rear window trim clips.

The front clips were held in with screws. The rear were not. But they look like very similar clips.

I think I will try to buy these new rather then restore.

Coming down to restoring my last few odd parts or bags with question marks or no labels.

I am going to call to check on my chrome tomorrow, and i found a seller in Wisconsin with a replacement passenger lower window sash.

Well A-W Custom Chrome has this batch of parts stripped and are working through them. Still not expected till the end of the month at the earliest.

This batch was 43 pieces mostly interior. The next batch will be window frames and Cowl if possible.

The last batch I may ship farther away to get a faster turn around. Everything unique to fleetwood that I only had one of I wanted to keep close. The stuff that I have spares of I do not mind shipping.

Sonic cleaner water after running my quarter window base seals for about 10 minutes.

I have them soaking in a rubber restorer now. But I most likely will just buy new.

A bag of 12 sheet metal screws not labeled. Covered in some sort of black mastic.

I can only assume they are for these interior panels. I think there was seam sealer over the joints.

I renewed my subscription to Hemmings so that I could find some vendors for final things to restore or replace. The last time I had a subscription I found a stainless restorer in Capac MI. But I think they are gone now.

Yesterday I read through it and found an electrical restorer in Lansing MI who might be able to do my quarter window motors. But today I decided to mark the pages. After 3 passes I have not been able to find that listing again.

Garage clean up day today. Mostly just putting stuff away and cleaning up the bulk of the dust and debry.

If I am going to paint that firewall soon I need to finish sanding and dusting down this body before that.

20241012_180912.jpg20241012_180857.jpg

This homemade spray booth looks cool. But once the firewall is painted I am cutting it in half. I will need the room to put the body back on the frame. I will leave half the booth up to work the doors, fenders, hood, and trunk. After those are fitting well to the body I will put it back together to work the body as a whole.

I removed my Hinges. I need to clean up and replace the pins.

20241014_192514.jpg

They need to be out of the way anyway since in painting the firewall it makes sense to take it all the way through the door jamb.

20241014_192531.jpg

For all the intricate areas I am using these ball scotch brights to get in there.

20241014_192753.jpg

They actually do not last long. But I should have enough.
