Nope, just the service manual.  I didn'trealize the benefits of the authenticity manual.

Good news. My U joints were pre greased.

So no need to remove the drive shaft.

Buttoning up a few random things while waiting to put my body on the frame.

This trans linkage shield has just been sitting in place for a year. Finally installed.

The trouble with all this shiny stuff going into/onto the car, when will you be tempted to take the completed car for drive where it will get dirty?

I want to restore my master cylinder and brake boster so that system can be complete shortly after putting the body on the frame. I would like to test drive the car before paint.

Does anyone sell an electronic version of the authenticity manual?  I like being able to zoom and search.

I dont beleive so. The authenticity manual is produced and sold by the Cadillac Lasalle club.

I wanted to wait to put my body back on the frame until after I installed the shocks. But that might still be some time until I get them. And my weekends are booked till mid April.

So I decided there is no benefit to the front shocks not having the body. And the rear is easy. So this weekend is the weekend.

My biggest fear was positioning the body over the frame. Now that is done now I just have to bring it down a foot.

I dont know who else has purchased body mounts recently, but these are a fortune now.

Over $600, and the complete set that Caddy Daddy sells was wrong. The round mounts had a different diameter to the square mounts so they would not fit together. I had to make a complete size list and send to them to make me a set.

Floating a 1/2 inch over the frame. But I am not feeling like crawling around under it to put in all the bolts. That can wait for a while.

I am very happy this worked out so smoothly. It was a $500 investment in those roller stands to be able to do this. But I thinkbit was worth it to be able to work so smoothly and safely.

I need to take my service manual out and find the body mount torque specs.

The figures will be in Section 3, under Frame.

For the '59 and '60 Closed cars, the figures are 20 to 35 Ft. Lbs.

Nice having the inner fenders bolted to the body. They had been sitting on brackets to the frame I had made. Maybe up to 3 inches higher in the rear then they should have been.

And it is going to be a pain cutting and setting the heater hoses. Not on this end. But you can see how much excess that will need to be cut out at the back of the water pump. And that is a limited access area. Especially behind the fuel pump.

With the weight of everything now, I think I will need to upgrade the tire dollies. These are the cheap $50 harbor freight ones, and they were not fun using on just the frame with the engine.

We have a nice set at work and I was rolling around a Rivian Electric SUV on them easy enough. Maybe I should sell my Rotisserie now and get a set of those.

It would be nice to intall all the AC components before the fenders go on for the last time.

But I would need to figure out the timing and the finances for that.

Dang, I am two body mount washers short. I forgot the front 4 mounts use 2 washers each. I will need to go to the hardware store.

So much more shop space freed up. And the spray booth is cut in half for body work on the doors, fenders, and hood. I will have all of these sandblasted again before I begin.

I took the time to bolt the new brake spliter block to the frame. I hated drilling a new hole. But the two zone fuel lines from 62 I used have a little different layout from the single zone in 61.

20250302_191336.jpg

I would really like to finish the fuel lines, fuel tank, and brake master cylinder. I would like to get this technically driveable before I continue with paint.

Seeing the ground strap in your final photo of the upper control arm brought me way back to the 60's when I was the proud owner of a 61 convertible (62 model). What is the purpose of that seemingly already grounded assembly?
