A few friends want to take a trip to Biloxi for this-

Just wondering if anyone has been there and what you thought.

Thinking about driving the 59 down there. Only 1000 miles away  ;D

Long trip in a 59

I like this story from the Detroit Auto Shows The Drive Home.

They drove my former Kettering (General Motors Institute) chemistry professors 59 from Florida to Detroit in January.

Heck no.   It would be a great trip in a '59, or any other Cadillac for that matter.

Took my '60 on many long drives on the Mainland when I owned it.   Most ended up being around 6,000 Kilometres by the time I got home.

You might want to check with Cruisin' the Coast organizers --- Biloxi and the whole CtheC route was/is being pretty hard hit by Hurricane Sally.
Haven't done that cruise yet but everyone I have talked to has had a great time.
There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Mental Illness".  Dave Barry.   I walk that line.

James It appears that you are heading down from the East.  I highly recommend you consider taking the Natchez Trace down from Nashville to Natchez MS.  It is a two lane highway with a 50 MPH speed limit and NO TRUCKS, telephone poles, signs etc.  But you do have to plan your fuel,  food and hotel stops stops, all the services are off of the highway.  A beautiful drive with very little traffic and lots of wildlife to see.

I think the Natchez Trace is 440 miles end to end, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful drives in the country.

I have been to Cruisin’ The Coast many, many times.  Last year I went in my ‘55 Series 62 convertible.  While the majority of participating vehicles are muscle cars vintage Cadillacs always seem to garner respect and appreciation from the enthusiastic crowds.  And crowds there are.  In fact, the crowd has grown year over year so much so that I think a better name for the event would be “Crawlin’ The Coast.” If you decide to come (and you should!) make certain that your cooling system is competent as you will idle in traffic for long periods.

All good info guys, thanks for the input, much appreciated.

Looks like 2 friends and myself are heading down tomorrow afternoon.  Going to try for Memphis tomorrow and finish the drive to Biloxi on Tuesday if everything goes well.

Also happens to be my one year anniversary tomorrow so glad I have an awesome and understanding wife  ;D

In preparation for the trip I spent about 20 hours wet sanding and polishing the 70's cheapo paint job.  It's a pretty rough paint job, lots of dents and scratches but at least it's a bit shinier now.

Also did an oil change, grease chassis, rotate tires, adjust brakes, check point dwell.

I'll get some more photos once we're down there, if we make it!

Looks great, have fun, be safe and all that stuff.  Be sure to post pics of the adventure so we can tag along as well!!

Just make sure she can idle in traffic without overheating!  The car that is.
