Saw this and thought if I had more time and less wife this would make an ideal project.  Looks very clean inside and out.  Of course you have to be able to pull the engine, but I'd rather do that than body work or upholstery.  Check out the option list, too!  $4500 near L.A.

Not insects. It looks like the dye is peeling from the leather for some strange reason.

I just wonder when people are going to be able to spell 'brakes', instead of 'breaks' and disc over disk. Are public schools really that bad these days?

...and more pointedly, how does ones destroy a "crank bearing" in one of these very durable engines?

There are too many low mileage 75-78 Eldorados for reasonable prices to take any risk on a project.

Bryan's comment is certainly a most worthy of consideration, but I'm thinking the present owner could be hearing a collapsed lifter rather than "a bad main bearing."  Those of us "older folks" know how horrible a stuck lifter can sound.   If it were my car, I'd perform an oil pressure test.   I'm thinking most contemporary mechanics would err on the side of caution rather than suggest what may be a minor issue.   James

Look at The Ark. We all questioned the wiped out thrust bearing in the engine. Bad castings, a plugged oil orifice to the bearing just for a little while, anything can happen. But, dropping the oil pan for an inspection is a moot point on these cars, when pulling the units out is about the same.
