Anyone have a tip for removing the rear bottom seat cushion in my '61 coupe? I've tried the push in/lift up technique that most cars of the time used but nothing budges. The manual doesn't seem to offer any help.  What the heck am I doing wrong here?

If the coupe is like the sedan this is the floor feature you must get past. From the front of the seat you may need to push down while pushing back before you lift up.  If the tabs bend trying to lift up it will actually lock it in place.

Ah, much clearer now. Will definitely give it a try. Thanks!

I have found that sometimes, one has to push backwards really hard, at the bottom on the seat frame, then, at the same time, lift.

In most cases, each side will have to be done one at a time.

Plus, I have found that it helps if you put the front seat back as far as it will go, to give you some leverage.

Bottom of the seat frame did the trick. Thanks, Bruce! Turns out the coupe (at least mine) uses a different system than the sedan pictured. There are hooks instead.

As you have discovered, you must be a contortionist and weight lifter at the same time.

You're welcome.

Sometimes I have found with the older the car is, the more previous owners have to install more soundproofing in areas that the factory never put it.   This makes removing the seat bases from those clips really hard.
