Same day as I made this, I filled the car up for the first time in a bit and it started pissing gas, drove it home and the tank cracked around where the fuel line comes out. It's kinda dented and probably full o rust anyhow so got a new one coming Friday

That's Murphys law, 'If something can go wrong, it will", or something to that effect.
Sorry to hear that, but at least it happened at home.

Yes, then there was O'Toole's commentary on Murphy's law, in which he stated that Murphy was an optimist. Clay/Lexi

Hahaha,  gotta remember that!

Ray Stevens does a song called "The Bricklayer's song" which pretty much sums up this philosophy.

Rick

Edit:
If it's allowed, here's a link to his song.

Check out The Bricklayer's Song by Ray Stevens on Amazon Music

I like his music, and looking for something else he did I found this one. It portrays Murphy's law perfectly.

I remember Stevens as a novelty song artist but I don't recall that one. Clay/Lexi

This one is mainly for Rick. Lexi carburetor issues now capping off a bad year. Another vintage novelty song that best describes how 2024 has gone, was Benny Bell's "Shaving Cream", (1946/1975); which uses a mind rhyme of sh__t, but then segues into the similar sounding "sh...aving cream". Yes, the entire year has gone to "Sh...Sh..Sh...shaving cream...shaving cream. Shave everyday and you'll always look keen". Clay/Lexi

Just listened to Benny's song, yes, another good one.  I'd heard it long ago and had forgotten about it. Music online is so convenient for finding songs.

Update:
Got the new tank in and the sending unit decided to fail, it is 73 years old so I guess I should've replaced it. Oh well, the new one is coming sometime this week hopefully and just slap it in and should be good to go!

Got the new sending unit in, changed an axle bearing and seal, and not I'm driving it to Kentucky tomorrow afternoon, should go fine as always

Well, Drove back from Kentucky during Hurricane Helene and to say the least, it was an interesting experience. Although I had the wipers rebuilt and they work really well, the wind was strong enough that it just pushed the rain past the wipers and I couldn't see anything. We ended up in Portsmouth for lunch and not even 2 hours after we left, major floods hit there and really tore stuff up, the roof of the building across the street came off while we were eating but the car was untouched! Either way, I ended up driving pretty much blind until we got to a gas station/grocery store and I bought some goggles, turned the wing window out pretty much flat, and stuck my head out of the window and drove 2 hours down route 23 going 45-55 all the way to Columbus. Crazy experience but such a good time too.

Figured I'd update ye olde forum, Had the car for over a year now and still no major issues. Took it on a 700+ mile trip through West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio with absolutely zero issues. Pretty much just been driving the rig, up to 14,000 miles I have on it now and still no big issues. Still looking for a 2x3 intake for the rig and tossing around the idea of a gear vendors overdrive too.

Lexi

That is fantastic. Keep your updates coming! Clay/Lexi
