I'm here too.  Raining here so not cruising but enjoying my Cadillac.

Michael Petti

No, it's not the same as before.  Less interesting. Used to always find a post of interest to read or I could offer help. Now, not so much.

The weather is nice, people are out in it. I've been out in the shop working on the 60. I feel like the better it gets, the more I degrade.

Spent the last 3 days at Gilmore for the Cadillac Fall Festival. Slept in this morning and went to an afternoon event for a different club. We kind of got rained on but not too much; still had at least 30 vehicles in attendance. (SE Mich)

According to NC DOT 'all roads in western NC should be considered closed'. We've seen videos of devastation in Tennessee, Georgia & South Carolina plus of course Florida and even Virginia felt the effects.  Heck, we had a strong breeze out of the east and north on Friday during Fall Festival which is unusual for Michigan - probably Helene. The wind usually comes out of the west.

Quote• At least 93 dead across 6 states: Deaths have been reported in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. At least 36 people are dead in North Carolina, according to county and state officials. At least 25 are dead in South Carolina, including two firefighters in Saluda County, authorities said. In Georgia, at least 17 people have died, two of them killed by a tornado in Alamo, according to a spokesperson for Gov. Brian Kemp. In Florida, at least 11 people have died, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Saturday, including several people who drowned in Pinellas County. Two people have died in Virginia, officials said Sunday, and two deaths were reported in Tennessee.

• Scores of missing persons reports filed amid communication outages: Officials in Buncombe County, North Carolina – where at least 30 people have died – have received about 600 missing persons reports through an online form, County Manager Avril Pinder said Sunday. Former FEMA administrator Craig Fugate encouraged people not to lose hope. Communications being out and loved ones being unreachable "doesn't necessarily mean the worst has happened," he told CNN on Sunday, adding people will be reunited once phone lines and internet are restored. "Although we know we have lost lives, we generally see more people that are missing or unaccounted for because of communication," Fugate said.

• Hundreds of roads closed in the Carolinas, hampering water delivery: About 300 roads are closed in North Carolina and another 150 are closed in South Carolina, acting Federal Highway Administrator Kristin White of the US Department of Transportation said Sunday. Seven water plants across the state – in Avery, Burke, Haywood, Jackson, Rutherford, Watauga and Yancey counties – were closed as of Saturday, impacting nearly 70,000 households, Gov. Cooper's office said. Seventeen water plants reported having no power. There are 50 boil water advisories in effect across western communities.

• Millions without power in Southeast: The remnants of Helene continued to knock out power for several states across the eastern US on Saturday, with about 2.4 million customers left in the dark in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Virginia, according to PowerOutage.us. On Sunday, a US Department of Energy spokesperson said there was no estimated timeframe for the restoration of power, noting widespread flooding and debris has impeded access to damaged infrastructure.

• 'It looks like a bomb went off' in Georgia: Helene "spared no one," Gov. Brian Kemp said Saturday. Among the 17 people who died in Georgia were a mother and her 1-month-old twin boys, a 7-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl, and a 58-year-old man, according to Kemp.

• South Carolina 'devastated' by Helene: The National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, said Saturday it is "devastated by the horrific flooding and widespread wind damage that was caused by Hurricane Helene." The agency called it "the worst event in our office's history," in a Facebook post Saturday evening.

• 'Complete obliteration' along Florida coast: Days after Helene slammed Florida on Thursday night as a Category 4 hurricane, countless residents are displaced, boil water notices are in place in multiple counties and power is out for over 186,000 customers. "You see some just complete obliteration for homes," DeSantis said Saturday, noting Helene impacted some of the same communities affected by hurricanes Idalia last year and Debby last month.

• Federal government declares public health emergency in NC: North Carolina on Sunday joined Florida and Georgia as states where the federal government has declared a public health emergency. "We are working closely with state and local health authorities, as well as with our partners across the federal government, and stand ready to provide additional public health and medical support," Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said. The government has deployed 200 people who are assessing how hospitals, nursing homes and other care facilities were affected, as well as sending medical care task forces. The announcement comes as President Joe Biden has approved federal disaster declarations for Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee and, on Sunday, Virginia.

• Additional rain expected: Helene dumped "staggering" amounts of rain, including 12 to 14 inches in South Carolina, 12 to 16 inches in Florida and 12 to 14 inches in Georgia, said Ken Graham, the director of the National Weather Service. The storm became a post-tropical cyclone on Friday, but rainfall is expected to continue this weekend across parts of the southern Appalachian region: Additional totals of half an inch are expected for areas of western North Carolina, including Asheville, and eastern Tennessee, including Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Up to 2 inches is possible for portions of Virginia and West Virginia through Monday. "Additional rainfall is not expected to exacerbate ongoing flooding but may lead to excessive runoff due to saturated soils," the weather service said Sunday morning.

Enjoy life - it has an expiration date.

Me too.

I thought it was just me - egotistical I guess.

This feeling goes way back before the hurricanes and storms and floods.
Like Michael - it just ain't what she used to be.

In the past 7 days, we have been hit by a heap of supposed new members trying to join, but upon checking deeper, these have been from all over the world trying to infiltrate the Forum.

During the same period, we have had half as many new Members accepted to the CLC, meaning the Membership is increasing.

 Bruce,
Glad you got to take it out and enjoy it for a while.

I'm also glad that you and the other moderators are doing a great job keeping the forum safe and operating smoothly.
Your vigilance is paying off. Thank you all for working so hard on this. I appreciate it as I'm sure everyone else that is active here does as well.
I'm sure it's not been said nearly enough. Great job!!

I'm also here. Been busy with local shows and some (fortunately minor) repairs. The clunking noise in the front end of my '60 that I recently posted about turned out to be control arm bolts that had managed to slowly work themselves loose. Simple and easy for once.

I agree... not as much exchange of ideas and suggestions on the Forum... One suggestion:  can we encourage those who ask for mechanical help to provide an update following the many suggestions that members post? I learn a great deal when a member asks for suggestions and THEN supplies the description of how his problem was solved.  All too often, though, we never receive an update regarding the solution. The "for sale" section can elicit some interesting commentary... alas, the Restoration section has become relatively inactive, save for Carl, whose postings are always fascinating and always appreciated.

I miss the totally clueless posts. People that for one reason or another ended up with an old Cadillac. Had nearly no interest in it.But,before they sold it for junk, wanted some advice. I'd like to think, maybe a question answered on this forum ,made them change their mind. Are there some who restored it, found it a home,or at least kept storing it? I think so. Completely new Cadillac people sometimes.Sometimes an ad on Craigs List. Sometimes barn finds. How they happen or not is hard to explain ,but are mostly non-Cadillac people. We need to help them too.  Most won't become members,Yes.  They are still an important part of the hobby that we should help.

I second the idea of posting the solutions to posted problems. Reading many of the posts is like reading a murder mystery but you never find out who did it.

I guess this may be considered disloyalty, but folks leave and or stop participating on this site, and go elsewhere.

What are some of the other sites folks visit for more information on our hobby.

Greg,

....I'm still here, but nothing to work on or say so I live vicariously through car shows.

Mike,

Your latest acquisition is lucky to find you. I'm confident that your quick clean up will result in a 99-point car. I 'd like to suggest Antoinette Blue, beige leather, and tan Haartz top
