John, I too thought I was wrong once but soon found out I was mistaken.

Looks like forum traffic is down by about a third from last year. Interestingly, it looks like page views for year to date has remained approximately the same.

Is this another attempt to revive the new policy change for the forum?

Well many of us like it. As far as the stats provided in the prior posts, the posts are down, but views are flat and membership is up.

I still say if people cannot afford an e-membership, too bad. Memberships in auto clubs are a luxury not a necessity. If you value something support it or it will perish.

I applaud the moderators work in blocking the scammers. They are like rust. They never sleep.

I've been tinkering with my other GMs and they're now fully operational....which only left the 59.  I replaced the fuel line with the OEM NOS hard line I bought and it was a direct plug and play.  No more fuel leaks!  My only other issue is fixing the exhaust manifold gasket which is next.  After that all 3 girls are set.

Not trying to go back. But trying to push for forum improvements in structure. We need a better value proposition.

What the forum currently offers is not enough as a paid experience.

It is not engaging it does not present itself in a way that draws you in.

Hi Eric!  I'm not sure "page views" is realistic.  The average daily number of page views for 2023 is over 36,000.  I cannot believe there are that many humans clicking on pages in the forum every day.  I suspect that number is primarily bots surfing the net for info.  But that not based on personal knowledge - it just seems likely to me.

The telling piece is that for 2023 compared to May 1 to Sep 30 of 2024 (after non-members were shut out from posting if I recall correctly) the average number of new topics/month dropped.  It was 277 in 2023 and 158 May-Sep 2024.  Average posts/month for the same period dropped from 1745 to 1032.

There were circumstances and issues involved in making the decision to change the forum rules that I don't know of.  One can only trust that the officers of the club did what they thought was necessary for the good of the club.  From my perspective the forum is not as active and interesting as it was, thus I feel it's value to me is diminished.  Not to say that it has no value by a long shot - access to the accumulated knowledge contained in the archives is priceless.  It just isn't as interesting on a daily basis.

Just my $.02 from which you may get change.

And I echo the praise for the moderators - without them the value of the forum would crater.....

I am still here, mostly lurking and learning. Was able to meet David King at a Milford car show in August and his Eldorado Brougham.  What a neat car.

Going to make my annual visit next week to my '56 Seville "Barn Find".  Plan to start a thread on the restoration/preservation at some point.  Will be doing the first trans flush since it was taken off the road in 1981.  Will start another thread for suggestions.
