Good afternoon,

Bruce Berghoff made up a tool kit and pouch years ago. You may find one here or on eBay.

THe two piece widowmaker jacks are rarer than back up lamps.

I had that jack combination for my'41 Coupe just cuz it was correct, even though  I don't show. They are difficult to use. Actually they are widowmakers. Jacking up the wheel by the lip of the rim so you can crawl under the car to place the stand under the spring perch. Or the  lower control arm in the front. WHAt could possibly go wrong?

Yes, I know you don't intend to use it or I hope you don't. That said, the cool factor is unmistakable. I remember putting my car in a local show in Cupertino CA. in the nineties. Not a points race. A couple of point hounds made me pretty nice offers for my combo.

Page A-53 A in the '41 Bible shows two correct versions according Mr. Bennett. If you are building a high point car either would be acceptical IMO. He gives the imprimatur to both jacks.  One has a cast hook and the other has a welde stamped hook. I would thing the cast hook would be the one issued with the '41s.  The picture is grainy and won't scan well.

Be careful if you find one that looks correct but isn't. Buick used the same basic design.  The stands  were different IIRC.

If you find a tool kit from Bruce you will have to blacken the wrenches, at least the open ends. His were bright, except the adjustable and the pliers. I believe the screwdriver handle was raw wood, oiled originally. IIRC Bruces' were varnish

Hope you have luck finding the jack, stand, stand and tool kit.

THe picture is from the site circa 2022.

Here's the article containing the above photo. I took Marty Watkins advice and bought a small floor jack.

Good morning,

Yes that's the article I ripped the picture from.

I tested my  jack and stand on level concrete. It worked but was pretty scary crawling under the car to set the stand. I would not have wanted to have to use it in  real world conditions such as at night in the rain or snow. THe stand isn't all that stable and  needs a piece of plywood or one by to keep it upright on anything other than solid ground. THe jack had to be angled in a little to get it to go up straight as it lifted the car. I didn't have the spacer for the rear but at the time I wondered if one was missing.

I'm from an era  before everything we use has to be placarded with warnings, including "Cauton: HOT" on a cup of coffee from a fast food joint.   Our parents and grandparents lived in a fairly un regulated world unlike today.  THey were smart and responsible enough to reject patently unsafe products. I'm convinced that's why the jacks are seen so seldom today.

A long time ago Harbor Freight sold a hydraulic scissor jack. I bought three of them. Two are still operable. They are tough.

All that said I make sure I have my triple A card with me any time  I drive the old dogs.

All for now.
